Hi guys,
Long Way to Go is one of my favourite Stevie songs. The 12 inch version has amazing high notes from Stevie in the harmonies, and cracking guitar solos. Its mix is also better than the album version, with a harder drum beat that sounds MURDEROUS (think Blood on the Dance Floor by Michael Jackson) It doesn't have Stevie's epic adlibs at the end of the album version, so I've combined the two mixes in this mashup. Hope you like it! https://soundcloud.com/pop-muse/stev...ng-way-to-go-7

Nice mash up dude.
I've always liked when Stevie does mean songs like this, too bad she doesn't do them any more. Is there any way we can download this mashup? |

This is great! It's like the definitive version, with the best elements of both versions. Such a cool song, so I wonder why it never made the set list on that album's tour, or any other tour for that matter. It's the kind of song I think would translate well live on stage.

Stevie is generally fearful of playing new music. I was so proud of her for all the new songs she performed on the IYD tour. However, I would have chosen different ones for her to play.

Her audience loved hearing the new songs performed. Did she not notice the enthusiastic response? You think that a light would go off in her head and she would come to realize her self-imposed prison in thinking no one wants to hear new songs (or buy records) is misguided and artistically stagnant. There are still plenty of staples songs in the set to placate the casual fans. After all, all of her well-known songs were new at one point in time. She's been in the business a very long time. Some of her "vintage" peers don't feel so constrained to "have" to play certain songs. They've earned the right to perform or record and release a whatever they want; even the most obscure or challenging material. They know their long time fans will appreciate the music, even though they aren't familiar with it, and even though it likely won't be a blockbuster in the market. I go to concerts to have an experience, not listen to a juke box of hits. What happened to the element of surprise? When did the unfamiliar and unsuspected become a liability in a show? That is what makes it unique, not cookie-cutter. The music industry has become so corporate and calculated, inspiration and spontaneity are not primary priorities. The standard now is a like a slick, lock-stop Vegas show --just all business. Some bands have fallen into that rigid path. It's refreshing to see bands that haven't succumbed to it; there is another paradigm. Take in to consideration that the limelight of chart hits in Stevie's generation of artists is over, and the institution they thrived in is gone. Instead of yearning for a hit single, many of them are still making great new music, knowing they still have a strong fan base. They may not be selling millions like the did in their heyday, but they haven't abandoned their artistry (or fans). They have reasonable expectations of where they are in the market. It's reasonable to understand why Stevie was disappointed in the low sales of In Your Dreams. But she needs to adjust to the new reality, but it doesn't mean she can't still have a career. She's become genuine iconic living legend, and has had a vast amount of media exposure - either in person or in popular culture reference. It's her game to lose.

Moonlight was performed all the time, even at a private show I saw where she only did 3 IYD songs.

[QUOTE=PenguinHead;1114931]I'm curious to know which songs you wished she performed. I'd choose You May Be The One, Italian Summer...and In Your Dreams - the title of her album and tour! Why the hell did she choose to drop the signature song? It's a great, fun and peppy sing-along song. She doesn't have many upbeat songs with that kind of energy./QUOTE]
Wasn't there some kind of controversy with Tom Petty's record label where they thought there was too much similarity with You Wreck Me and In Your Dreams? I personally don't think they sound too much a like - maybe a little in the verse but definitely not in the chorus. Anyways I think that is why Stevie dropped this song from the set list and why Reprise didn't release it as a single. |

i've enabled a download link!
about long way to go: she did rehearse it for the street angel tour. it would've been the opener TOO! http://stevie-nicks.info/2013/12/01/...ur-rehearsals/ i can't find a fullblown stevie plus band rehearsal though. imagine the slayage stevie would've inflicted on this song and audiences on that tour! http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/images...es/shocked.gif
