Star Trek. I like the original 1960's version. The others were ok.

The movies were great.

I'd probably really enjoy Star Trek, but like so many sci-fi franchises, it's rather vast and daunting to get into. I just don't know where to begin. I did like that big Hollywood film that came out a few years ago, though.

The Next Generation. I like the original, but to me, TNG was more interesting.

Definitely a TNG fan... I was just watching "Sins Of The Father", a third season episode from the very recently released remastered third season on Blu-ray. Exciting stuff (if you're a Trekkie like me!)

I did watch Voyager from start to finish as it originally aired - I was about high school age then, and I enjoyed it. But TNG will always be my favorite.

I liked Voyager. I was told it was the least acceptable one to like though by Star Trek aficionados, that it was 'girl trek' with ridiculous wimpy male characters. I loved the premise of them trying to get back home and identified with Belana the Klingon woman.

I've watched some of the old ones with new effects added and think them quite well done usually.

Right now I'm hooked on a sci-fi drama series called Orphan Black.

You've actually kind of sold me on Voyager. I love strong women and wimpy men! Perhaps that's where my Star Trek fandom shall begin.

Although TNG always looked interesting to me too. None of the other series look as appealing as those two, really. Perhaps it'll be a coin toss.

I mainly watched Voyager in reruns as I happened to catch the first episode at a time I like to watch, and they had it on early every week night in order until it got back to the first one again. I did miss some even then but so often a show gets moved around and loses me and this one didn't. Most of the guys in it were more Spock-like.

I tried Deep Space 9 too and it seemed interesting but it was on at a not so auspicious time. There was some alien lady who died and part of her went on into another alien of the same species and that seemed pretty trippy.

Well I have always been a big star trek fan. I own the original series. Plus my son Sean bought me the box set of all the movies. Plus he took me to see the Star Trek movie a few years back for my birthday. And Sean and I and my son Charlie just went to see Star Trek Into Darkness last night. I will have to say that Into Darkness was awesome. I never really got into the other spinoffs, but my brother Dave use to watch all of them.

I enjoyed Into Darkness very much when I saw it last weekend. But the response from my Trekkie friends was that it was a "good summer film but not a good star trek film". Perhaps I need to familiarize myself with the franchise more, because I really have no idea what that means.

Thread bumped up, as I am now watching TNG for the first time (first four seasons have popped up on Netflix UK) and am enjoying it thoroughly!

It's my first foray into "proper" Star Trek. So different in tone and quality from the recent blockbuster films, enjoyable as those were I can see what the trekkies who dismissed them are talking about now. TNG is so much more cerebral and interesting. I think about the episodes long after I've finished watching them, whereas Into Darkness has mostly left my brain already.

The entire cast is just brilliant. I finally get why everyone makes such a big deal about Patrick Stewart. What a screen presence.

I'll give a shoutout to jeff up above, as I too was just watching Sins of The Father. I absolutely adored it.

I'm into season 4 now, which is the last one available on Netflix as of yet. I guess I'll have to shell out some cash for the DVDs, as I don't think I'll be happy to stop just yet.

Also, Stevie loves TNG so you have incentive to watch it.

I want to start on the Trek franchise, but I have no time to start new series at the moment.

Oh dear. Given my recent posts on another thread, I'd be hypocritical if I was moved to watch anything based on Stevie's endorsement.

But in this case, I have to give her some credit. She just seems to be a sucker for escapist fiction, of extremely varying quality. I can relate to that to a degree.

Oh dude, me, so me.

TNG was the Trek of my childhood. There's something to appreciate about all of them though. TOS has the most enduring friendship angle, TNG was the only sequel that can be said to rival TOS in terms of mainstream popularity plus Patrick Stewart was the franchise's most distinguished actor at the time, DS9 was the darker and less morally black & white Star Trek, Voyager had the first female captain and also the main villain species was led by a female as well, and it had a terrific initial premise (although I think it didn't fulfill its potential). The only one I don't know is the last one, Enterprise, and per an earlier comment I actually think that one's the least cool to like.

They all have their flaws too, and the franchise in general. But it's the big geek love of my childhood and I'll always have my soft spot for it.
