Default Whole Lotta Trouble |Edited Remix| VIDEO

Whole Lotta Trouble
http://vimeo.com/59878994

Off the top of my head, I can't recall if I played this video at NOTS last year but I know I played it for NOTS 21. I always loved the song, especially the remix but I felt the video never did the song justice. It wasn't one of Stevie's best vocal deliveries. I think the single remix version matched up near perfect. Thanks to my friend JNX!

I'm gearing up for this year NOTS so I'm pulling out some from the last 2 years.

I was in the audience the night that this was recorded. The OSOTM Tour stopped in Houston, Texas in October 1989. She played the song during the regular set. An annoucement was made asking that the audience stick around AFTER the show to film the video. The cameras were on hand and the band ran through the song at least another 5 times, over and over. Of course, in true Stevie fashion, I'm sure the close-up shots were done later on a hollywood soundstage.

I like this much more than the original. The vocal on the original video is lame. Thanks Tre!!!

Always have loved the song and totally bewildered at the hate many have for it. The way the horns and percussion swing you around like a carnival ride as Stevie bellows out the bizarre lyrics. What could be more quirky fun than that??

Says the person who thinks Jimmy Iovine ruined Stevie's mystique with BD and WH.

I don't want 'quirky fun' Stevie songs. Whole Lotta Trouble is a whole lotta hot mess.

Nice job, Travis!

This is such a funny song for Stevie. Of the 10 times I've seen her perform it live, she's messed up the lyrics every single time.

Yeh, WLT lacks the tinny low-rent guitar, offkey bass, and croaking-into-a-rain-barrel vocals of the BD "masterpiece" stuff.

And Stevie has pumped out a lot of quirly fun, which is where I place Stand Back, Talk to Me, Paper Doll, No Questions Asked, Blue Denim (much as I loathe it), Trouble in Shangri-la, and Ghosts Are Gone, among others.

Glad most of you liked it ... I too have never understood the dislike of it by so many. I always remember reading Rolling Stone's review of "OSOTM" and them saying that "WLT" was Stevie's best dance floor entry since "Stand Back." Of course, WLT is not a dance song, but I get what they mean. I find it to be irresistibly funky.

Sorry, I love you Stevie, but this video is a hot sticky mess! This is the nadir of Stevie video's! This makes the "Blue Denim" video look like high art.
Back in da day, I really wanted this to catch on and become a hit, but in retrospect, I'm very content they never played this vid on MTV. It would've been such a let-down to many, after the effigy of "Rooms On Fire." Even non-fans at the time, were commenting (positively) on Stevie's misery in her finery video-genic late 80's masterpiece.

Well done on the remix.

This video is top flight foolery.

What I like most about it are those dresses on Lori and Sharon - that is some Dynasty Nolan Miller craziness. And I still love that look. It is great to see Stevie rocking the real boots and hopping around. Her hair is good too.

Some epic hall of shame fashion moments. Not one, but two guys in anemic little ponytails. Even then I had to fight my urge to sneak up and snip those hateful little things off. A bedazzled baseball cap! Yanked straight off a retiree in Boca. High waisted ultra baggy chinos with a pegged bottom. A yellow polkadot shirt with balloon sleeves! That crazyass overscale scarf wrapped around the top hat. LOL. So haphazard. Like Stevie looked at that outfit and said, "More. There is something missing. I need MORE fabric somewhere! Gimme that giant scarf. I am accessorizing!"

The real piece de resistance here has to be that garish fupa brooch. I can just imagine the conversation about including that gem. "I'm a little concerned about this pooch I have going on. What do you say we cover it with a gold metallic maple leaf? No, not that little one. The one the size of a place mat. Perfect. Now let's swag some gold chains on either side of it. Actually, gimme that drapey gold necklace instead. Now hot glue some sequins on this puppy. A lot of them. More. Done! Now no one will ever even notice this pesky little bulge."

Classic. I love this video.

I disagree, but you get major points for wit.

I am in stitches !!! Sparky, this the single MOST HYSTERICAL comment that I've read in my short time on The Ledge. I am starting a petition as we speak to demand that the WHOLE LOTTA TROUBLE video outfit be permanently put on display at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Museum. Soon, fans will be able to enjoy this delicious ensemble FOREVER !! Perhaps she can dust this little number off for the 2013 FM TOUR!!! For what song should she wear it?

Wardrobe breakdown MORE pricelss than video.
I love this song-but never saw the video til the Internet started going strong. I do recall the days of ROF, and that was cool that SN was getting any video airtime. Still-I don't care for the song live, but as a stick out alternate Stevie universe piece, it's a gem.
I recenty got some pics of Stevie wearing this "bulge-covering" brooch" from (I thought) BTM days. It looked so cute and Stevie, but to see in in that video amongst all the other stuff she's got going on...ugh.

Ha. I am glad you found that post amusing.

I doubt that drag would ever be trotted out again, but if the band had more of a sense of humor about themselves it wouldn't be out of place for Seven Wonders. Though in that song I would prefer to see that puffy sleeved nightgown get up she wore that was seen mostly in silhouette in the last few scenes of the SW video.
