Dave Grohl’s supergroup adds second show Posted on January 16, 2013 in AAA, AC, Active Rock, CHR, Classic Hits, Classic Rock, General, Hot AC Dave Grohl’s new rock supergroup has lined up a second date in Los Angeles after its debut show at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah sold out in minutes. The Sound City Players, which features Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Rick Nielsen and Grohl’s Foo Fighters and Nirvana bandmates, will hit the stage at the Park City festival later this month to commemorate the official launch of the rocker’s documentary debut Sound City – about the fabled California studio they all recorded at. All tickets for that gig went fast and so Grohl and his all-star friends have added a second show at the Hollywood Palladium on 31 January to coincide with the theatrical debut of the film at the nearby Cinerama Dome. Grohl’s band also features Rick Springfield, former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Lee Ving and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club stars Robert Levon Been and Peter Hayes.

WOW! I really hope we get video of this soon. Mostly for the new song but also to see how the rest of her songs sound as Stevie. Nicks backed by the foo fighters.

That's the difference between one of us writing a review and anyone else. They say the highlight of the show is landslide with just Stevie and acrostic guitar.

Long piece about the film and here's what Stevie said about her own documentary:" When asked about her own documentary, she said, "I'm going back into Fleetwood Mac, and it's like the Volturi is coming for me. I don't love being filmed, and I don’t love all the stuff you have to think about instead of thinking about your music. I don’t love the whole vanity thing, it bugs me. I'd never want to be a movie star." ![]()

don't know whether that's info connected to this specific song, but Grohl said in some interview that she told them she sang something about the death of her godson?

Sundance: Dave Grohl’s ‘Sound City’ Concert Rocks Park City By DOMINIC PATTEN | Saturday January 19, 2013 @ 9:14am PST Tags: Dave Grohl, Nirvana, Sound City, Sundance Film Festival One of the hottest tickets at the Sundance Film Festival last night wasn’t for a movie but for a rock & roll show. The rock and roll fantasy camp of Dave Grohl’s Sound City concert to be exact. The megaconcert followed Friday’s premiere of the Sound City documentary, the directorial debut by the Foo Fighters frontman. Spanning nearly five hours, the packed gig Friday night at Park City Live featured the reunion of all of the remaining members of Nirvana as well as members of Queens of the Stone Age, Rage Against The Machine, Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, Slipknot singer Corey Taylor, Fear frontman Lee Ving and Rick Springfield. Yes, that Rick Springfield and let me tell you “Jessie’s Girl” never sound so good. Then again, the cover of Cheap Trick’s “Surrender” earlier, with Taylor on vocals, Nielsen on guitar, an ear-to-ear grinning Grohl on drums and Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, had really gotten the crowd going with a stadium sized sing-a-long. The Sound City doc, which Gravitas Ventures picked up the VOD for before Sundance, details the history and legacy of the famed San Fernando Valley recording studio. The nearly 40 songs performed during the show were ones that were recorded at the now defunct studio, with Grohl’s Foo Fighters playing house band. I had to split the show after two hours to hustle down the Library Center for a 11:45 PM screening of the cannibalistic We Are What We Are. However, I heard that mini-sets from Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and CCR’s John Fogerty later only served to crank things up to rock heaven. Outside, Sundance was rocking in other ways. Up and down Main Street, clubs and other venues were packed with crowds of would-be partygoers spilling out on to sidewalk, trying to get in to this film or that film’s event. When I was heading back around 2:30 AM, not a lot had changed. But would you expect anything less from the first Friday night of Sundance?

wish someone had recorded her singing the new song about her godson. See the other thread on this song, she wrote lyrics and Dave Grohl (and others) helped write the music.
