Well, she was aware that the Go Insane songs were about her. I don't know if that's why she left.

But this reminds me of Stevie saying that she just thought the line "you're here cause I say so" was great, because it was true of the person Lindsey was talking about. Stevie obviously thought that part of NTF was about Carol Ann. I found that amusing.

I always thought that line was about Stevie, and the fact that the only reason she was in the band was because of Lindsey.

I know. Most people read it that way, but not Stevie.

CAH said after she listened to the GI album, "it was obvious to me that Lindsey's fury over the fact that I'd left him had been poured into his music. And the truth behind the music was of little importance."

She goes on to say, "but one thing he didn't seem or want to understand was this: I had a little power of my own. I could decide who I spent the rest of my life with -- and as of that moment, no matter how much i still loved him, I could never forgive or forget this ultimate insult. He'd lost me. Go Insane was the epitaph for our relationship."

I've always heard that
LindsEy is the male spelling
LindsAy is female spelling

see for example
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Lindsay

7. Lindsay 1009 up, 397 down
The original and correct spelling of the popular name meaning 'From the Linden Tree Isle.' Can be a name for both genders, but generally Lindsay is the female form, and Lindsey is the male form.

I think in the UK "Lindsey" is (or at least was) a more commonly male name and it was spelled "Lindsey" there. More men were named Lindsey than women. The same thing with a name like Stacy. But in the United States, it's just not as common to name men Leslie, Dana or Lindsey. It may have been more common 20-30 years before LB was born, but for men of his generation it doesn't seem to be a very popular name.

When I was growing up, most Michelles were spelled <----- that way. Now, it seems to me to be 50/50 whether you use one "L" or two.

But my advise to Rutheda would be not to name him Lindsey at all, spelled either way. You know, do something where no androgyny will sneak in at all. Go with "Edgar."

I dunno.... a gender-neutral name kinda goes with that gender-neutral voice. .. .

For whatever reason, I think both the first and last name suit him. And I'm glad he was given something fairly uncommon. I wouldn't want him to be Greg or Jeff.

I've personally always found it hilarious that Stevie and Lindsey managed to find each other, having those matching androgynous names.

Was it Ken Callait who said he called Stevie 'Lindsey' the first time they met?

And one of the early press reviews switched their names as well. Michele

What do you mean? That his brothers have high voices? I have never heard audio of Greg Buckingham, but obviously we've seen Jeff. Could be that after the first two, the mom said, "Oh man, I recognize a trend here. My sons have really shrill voices. I just might as well give this last one a girl's name, then people won't expect a baritone."

We've talked about his singing, but Lindsey's speaking voice has deepened with age as well. It sounds good.

LOL..... I was being dry. But it would be curious to hear what Greg sounded like (there's probably film somewhere of him being interviewed about the Olympics but I've never come across any of it) and what their dad sounded like..

I re-watched the backstage footage posted earlier and was reminded just how much higher and thinner his speaking voice was back then. I'd forgotten how much it changed. I'd be surprised if all the years of smoking (ahem) and belting away onstage wouldn't have deepened his voice (besides the normal effects of aging). Even now, though, his speaking voice is on the higher side for men. But those blue eyes more than make up for it....

But her name really is Stephanie. It's not like his is really Leonard. Their names are not a big deal to me - of course I know guys named Dana, Shannon, Lynn...

The sad thing is, people would just call him "Ed." He'd be a generic Ed Buckingham. I always like it better when people have those old names and don't abbreviate them.
