Default Mojo magazine says Rumours reissue January 2013 - with Rosebud DVD

Hello Ledgies All,

Not sure if this has been posted already, but I've just been reading the new Mojo with the Rumours cover, and it says:

'In January 2013, Rumours is to be reisssued with an extra disc of unreleased alternate takes, plus a promo film - the notorious Rosebud - that preserves the group in the amber of their late-'70s megafame.'

I wonder if this will be the much-delayed special edition from 2009 (was it that long ago?) It will be great to have a decent-quality version of Rosebud at last, but really, Rumours again? Will it be the same extra disc as the last reissue, or an even deeper excavation? What about an expanded and remastered Mirage, or Tango In The Night? I felt the same when I read the Mojo article - there are no stories here that even the idlest Fleetwood Mac fan hasn't heard a thousand times. Mojo did a great feature on Tusk a few years ago, but I really think there are unheard stories about Mirage or Tango that would be far more interesting to unearth...

As much as we can all discuss and probably agree on our feelings towards ANOTHER Rumours release..let's focus on Rosebud.

If they're putting out an entire performance of that on DVD, I think that will truly be epic. We only have one performance on YouTube correct? I will be ECSTATIC if this happens.

Has anyone thought....the two new FM tracks are probably going to be connected to some kind of package. This may be the vehicle.

True. A good possibility since there might not even be an EP. Just a re release with the new tracks and DVD. Seriously though I don't even care abou anything else as long as we get that Rosebud footage I full!

I already have the two-disc Rumours set from years back, but having a FM concert DVD from back in the day, aka Rosebud, as opposed to the Dance/Live in Boston or youtube versions of old stuff, would be awesome!!

I welcome any old shows, but I wonder if it will be the exact same documentary that has floated around for years and not the entire concert from that era. And I'm not holding my breath till I have it in my hands. I think that they should throw in their performance from "A Day On The Green" while their at it.

I love the convenience and immediacy of digital downloads, but when it comes to FM, I prefer to have a hard copy. So I may be in a party of one here, but I'm hoping they release the new tracks on CD -- even if I have to buy "Go Your Own Way" and "Dreams" for the twentieth time to get them.

Meanwhile... very cool news about 'Rosebud.' Thanks for sharing, tango87.

If it's just the Rosebud documentary, as we've already become accustomed to, I'll be kind of disappointed. If it's the entire UC Santa Barbara concert, then that'll be something to get excited about. Jeez, just the chance of seeing myself in a crowd shot would be something to get a little buzzed about. I remember a couple of the cameras taking crowd shots throughout the concert...as well, as two stationary cameras on the soundboard tower; and two shoulder cameramen running around the stage.

Unless they've unearthed some tracks that would equal "the discovery of intelligent life on Mars", I think I'll pass on yet another (my 6th or 7th) copy of Rumours...unless I have to buy one (the CD) to get the other (the DVD) (which is about like Clapton saying that he was forced to buy the heroin to get the cocaine he was hooked on...sure, Eric, sure)

The Rosebud doc would be WONDERFUL, but I would die if they ever released the Tusk doc on DVD. That is my absolute favorite.

Things Fleetwood Mac could release in 2013 to coincide with their tour:
  • A greatest hits package including SYW songs and a new Stevie song, a new Lindsey song, and a DVD with all their music videos and maybe a live show, such a Rosebud.
  • Rerelease Mirage with an extra disc of demos/alternates and a DVD of the Mirage show.
  • Rerelease Tango in the Night with an extra disc of demos/alternates and a DVD of the Tango in the Night show.
  • A Bluray boxed set including all their music videos, Rosebud, Tusk doc, Mirage show, Tango show, The Dance, and Live In Boston.

What Fleetwood Mac is planning on releasing:
  • ANOTHER version of Rumours with some more demos (presumably from Rumours) along with a DVD from a concert BEFORE Rumours and two songs written by Lindsey in 2012 all in one package.

Don't get me wrong, I would love Rosebud on DVD, but I don't see how it fits with a Rumours release and I don't see how they would incorporate the new songs unless they were just extra/free downloads. I also don't see why they would insist on releasing Rumours again. There are so many amazing packages they could create and this just seems to fall short. But at the end of the day, I will still buy it.

This is great news. I hope the DVD contains songs we have not already seen and the outtakes songs we don't already know.

Yes, especially if the digital sound quality is going to be inferior. Michele

Rolling Stone, January 25, 2013 8:00 AM ET

On January 29th, Fleetwood Mac will reissue their 1977 classic Rumours in a new edition packed with tons of unreleased material from the studio and stage. Now you can get an exclusive first listen to the 12 unreleased live tracks that will be included with the new set. Recorded during the band's 1977 world tour at concerts in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Nashville and Columbia, South Carolina, the disc features Fleetwood Mac favorites like "Rhiannon" and "World Turning," as well as plenty of Rumours highlights including a swooning rendition of "Dreams," a stomping version of "The Chain" that comes to a raucous conclusion, and the heartbreaking closer "Songbird." Fleetwood Mac will hit the road for their first tour since 2009, starting April 4th in Columbus, Ohio, with additional dates just announced.
