lol I understand that it might seem like a bigger deal to older people. However, I've seen so many celebrities get attacked by other celeb's fanbases and it usually amounts to nothing but a bunch of morons running their mouths behind a computer screen. Most of these kids wouldn't dare talk like that in real life, but they become tough guys on the internet. As for Nicki fans, they will do just the same. Most of them are young girls. Just to give you an idea, some of her fans include people like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Sophia Grace (the little girl from Ellen), so her fanbase resembles girls in that age group.

I was a 90s kid, so I was in that last generation of kids who grew up without the computer, internet and social media. So I experienced all of those things you mentioned and I still had a ball. My young nieces and nephews are always complaining about being bored and have no idea how to entertain themselves without their gadgets. I do like my technology, but I always think fondly of that time and at times wish I could live it again lol.

Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks says her beloved late mother would have saved her from viciously attacking Nicki Minaj over Minaj’s threats against Mariah Carey.

Nicks, a recent coach on “American Idol,” put out a public apology yesterday for saying that her friend Carey should have “strangled” Minaj “to death,” and blamed it on a long day of interviews.

But Nicks revealed exclusively to Page Six that she’s still struggling since her mother, Barbara, died at age 84 in December after a battle with pneumonia.

Nicks told us, “I am a very emotional person. I saw what I had said and I didn’t sleep all night."

“I have been touring since June . . . I lost my mom a couple of months back, and usually I would have called her to ask, ‘What should I do?’

“My mother would have said, ‘You rushed in to save your friend Mariah. That is not wrong. What was wrong was the words you used. You are a writer. You would never say those words, and that should be a lesson for you for the rest of your life.’

“I could have taken my mom’s view on it, but instead I took out the insane soldier. From the bottom of my heart I would say I am very sorry.” She continued, “[After I saw my words] I felt, did this really happen? I don’t even recognize my words. Could this have been a ‘Law & Order’ moment? I can’t tell you. I don’t know.”

Of Carey, Nicks said: “When she was having some issues a long time ago, I wrote and told her, ‘You are wonderful, and you have to keep singing. Don’t listen to everybody else.’ I have so much respect for her; she is one of the greatest singers of all time. I guess I was just being extremely protective.”

Nicks, on tour to promote her album “In Your Dreams” and also releasing a doc with the same title, said she’s used to vicious verbal attacks.

She said, “At 64, I’ve learned to roll with the punches, but it is never easy . . . I have been through some terrible times, and the odds are I shouldn’t be here now. I am lucky to be here. My armor is up, but people can get through your armor sometimes, and wound you.”

I would be happy if this all just went away now, it's gotten so blown out of proportion if you ask me.

Definitely sick of seeing this every time I go online. It's on the homepage of just about every single email provider and news site. Yeah yeah, Stevie was dramatic about it. If you ask me, she was in rare form the entire day. Very sarcastic and silly and even more ramble-y than usual and had a lot of dry humor and eye-rolling going on. But I found it entertaining, and I think she's being mature by saying she's sorry. So it should just end here.
Let's just hope Mariah and Nicki don't decide to repond....

I keep seeing in the news that Stevie has apologised to Nicki. Has Nicki followed through and apologised to Mariah? Just curious.

It's so funny because everyone was saying that the press release didn't sound like Stevie at all and these comments above ^ are pure Stevie. Law and Order. She is something else. As far as her not recognizing her words, I recognized her words. That's how she talks. Nothing particularly out of character about her saying she would strangle someone to death. When she strangled Lindsey she said she got up off of the sofa to kill him. She just talks like that. I'm sure she intimates that she will somehow kill someone every single day. That's how she expresses herself. She regularly sets out to murder people. They plan on murdering her in turn, as do horses.

Michele

Yes, it's definitely being blown out of proportion, but at the same time I think, "Wow, Stevie is still a big enough deal to be picked up by all these news outlets." That part is kind of cool.

I think that's kind of cool too. I mean all publicity is good publicity in the end. As long as her name's out there, maybe there will be some renewed interest.

Great point, Mike...Stevie should have chosen her words more carefully but its funny that she is getting this much attention for a silly comment
