Read the original article, not this piece of news junk. The author of the CBS news piece conveniently neglected to mention that these findings about diacetyl were observed in in vitro cell cultures and not in any actual living organisms. Yes, it is interesting to see how diacetyl affects the formation/dissolution of beta-amyloid plaques, but to make such gross extrapolations from the test tube to the human body at this point is just crappy journalism.

certainly make sense ,look at the behavior of "most" of the humans who voluntarily ingest these chemicals, clearly anyone with 1/3 of a brain cell knows both products are bad for you , christ diet coke keeps people fat

Well, fruit juice makes people fat too. I think the general rule of thumb about feeling well and being healthy is to avoid eating anything manufactured by Big Food: General Mills, Nabisco, Quaker, Kraft, Nestle, Frito-Lay, Coca Cola, etc. Anything made by these companies is manufactured primarily for shelf life stability and attractiveness. Then they load it up with as much hydrogenated fat, sugar and salt as they can pack into a single bite to mask the flavor of all the chemical additives.

This is the single embodiment of everything wrong with America today:
