Default I wish...

Well, its after work and I'm getting drunk... I have been listening to a bunch of Stevie's songs. My wish is that Stevie would redo Crystal with Dave Stewart producing. This song is a hit in my opinion, but I don't like the quick vocal she put on it for the Practical Magic soundtrack. I know Dave would bring out the best. I also wish she would redo Storms, Beautiful Child and Sisters of the moon with Dave. The production on the Tusk is just too out there. There are soo many songs that have never got their due...

I think I'm the only one who purely adores the Practical Magic Crystal. I think it's gorgeous, and wish Stevie would make an entire album in that type of vein.

I'd be interested to see what Dave would do with Crystal. I think it's a beautiful song - the Buckingham Nicks version is my favourite though. Gives me chills.

I wish Stevie would tour Europe (think I'm gonna have to keep on wishing with that one )

I wish Stevie would release some of her unreleased demos. There are some gems floating about out there.

I also wish she would get a move on and release the IYD documentary.... Sorry, totally hijacked your thread with my own wishes

her voice is too harsh for it, the nuance is gone

I love Crystal in any and every form.

My ideal would be a Stevie/Lindsey duet version (swapping verses, maybe, and then harmonizing on the chorus) when both of their voices were in their prime...

but even now I wouldn't object.

She could do it now. After I listened to In Your Dreams, I realized it was a matter of tricks and production. I mean, Dave did her justice. She hasn't sounded sooo good since the early 80s. I know if he got ahold of some of her old songs, they would be terrific.

You're not the only one. I like all three versions of the song - the Buckingham Nicks version, the Fleetwood Mac version, the solo version. Obviously it's a song Stevie holds in high regard. Why has she never performed it live?

What I don't understand are fans who want Stevie to re-record more of her older songs! Rehashing her past is completely counterintuitive to artistic progress. In Your Dreams was a sign of moving forward.

Now you're wishing that she would move backwards? Nothing screams has-been artist more than having them regurgitating past glories over and over. Stevie has been doing that for decades. Why would more of that seem appealing?

Well, no. This single never had its day. IT'S A GREAT SONG. Sheryl Crow didn't do it justice, Frankly, Stevie sounds as if she is not trying. I'm sure Dave can bring the son into sindle status. The SONG is great.

You're not alone. I think her voice is lush and rich on PM soundtrack. I feel the same way about If you ever did believe. And I loved her vocals on Somebody Stand By Me too.

No no, I love the Practical Magic version too. I think she does a great job singing it by herself. But I really love hearing the Buckinham Nicks version, that's my favorite because it's in such a good key for Lindsey. It sounds alot like the FM version, but the key is a bit too high for him.. I love hearing Lindsey singing it with Stevie's harmonies, though. Stevie's harmonies are the best.

Oh no, I love it too. I thinkiot's lovely. In fact, my least favourite version is the Fm white album one but I still like it too. It's just a beautiful song.

Thanks for reminding me of crystal.

I prefer the solo version. Best ending.

Definitely deserves a re-record.

Sheryl did a great job with the instrumentation & arrangement on Crystal. But when I first heard the song I was taken aback by Stevie's harsh delivery, and a bit shocked that her voice had changed (once again) sounding more whiskey than honey, but of course It grew on me. I felt the same way about some of the songs on TISL & most of her SYW songs esp. Destiny Rules, RTTG & Not Make Believe. In Your Dreams was quite a surprise vocally. Stevie hasn't sounded this good on record since the 80's.

I Wish...Stevie would honour the treasures that she has in the vault and release remastered clean versions of the songs we all know and love, some of her best material that never saw the light of day.

I Wish...she would clear the vault and avoid re-recording any of these old gems and leave them intact to the time period they were recorded. Write new songs from the ground up on any future recordings.

On Crystal....there is a beautiful live version from Buckingham Nicks that has her famous, luscious growl at the end. Would have been great on early Mac Tours.

I can't get into the newer version as the vocal sounds hoarse and forced. Had it been done for IYD perhaps the result would have been better, but nothing can match the Buckingham Nicks and White Album versions, better left in the older era.

Her voice is like gravel on a bed a roses on that song. I'm sure if Dave produced it, she would of sounded excellent. I like the lush production, but her voice is just too harsh.
