Lindsey Buckingham Doing a Little Tour of the States

MARCH 2012 BY MASS FERGUSON

Mick Fleetwood recently told Playboy that “I don’t believe Fleetwood Mac will ever tour again.” He then added “But I hope we do.”

While we take this in and contemplate the associated melancholy, we have to refresh ourselves with the news that Fleetwood Mac songwriter/guitarist/bon vivant Lindsey Buckingham will be taking his act on the road.

As everyone knows, Lindsey brings it when it comes to live performances.

His website just announced the dates, as of now. So far it looks like a small west-coast USA trip, though other shows may be added:

May 3, 2012 Solana Beach, CA – Belly Up Tavern
May 4, 2012 Los Angeles, CA – The Wiltern
May 5, 2012 San Juan Capistrano, CA – The Coach House
May 6, 2012 Thousand Oaks, CA – Fred Kavli Theatre
May 8, 2012 San Luis Obispo, CA – Fremont Theatre
May 9, 2012 Fresno, CA – Tower Theatre
May 11, 2012 Santa Cruz, CA – Rio Theatre
May 13, 2012 Sacramento, CA – Crest Theatre
May 15, 2012 Redding, CA – Cascade Theatre
May 21, 2012 Spokane, WA – Bing Crosby Theatre

Yeah, that's a little tour of the "States" all right. I would say it's a tour of the State Plus One.

Default Legendary rock guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is coming to the Central Coast

Lindsey Buckingham, rock guitarist, to perform in SLO in May

Lindsey Buckingham
By Sarah Linn | [email protected]

Legendary rock guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is coming to the Central Coast.

Buckingham is slated to perform May 8 at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo.

Named one of Rolling Stone magazine’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time,” Buckingham released his first album with then-girlfriend Stevie Nicks in 1973.

A year later, the two joined drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie and keyboardist Christine McVie as members of the bluesy rock group Fleetwood Mac.

The band, whose hits include “Dreams,” “Don’t Stop” and “Go Your Own Way,” was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
Buckingham has also found success as a solo artist with the songs “Trouble” and “Holiday Road.” He’s currently touring in support of his seventh solo album, 2011’s “Seeds We Sow.”

Concerts are rare for the Fremont, which operates primarily as a movie theater. The progressive rock band Yes performed there in 1995.

Tickets for Buckingham’s May 8 concert are $43. For more information, call 543-1843 or visit www.slobrewingco.com.

Lindsey Buckingham Performs in Thousand Oaks, 5/6

by BWW News Desk

The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Foundation presents Lindsey Buckingham in the Fred Kavli Theatre at 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 6, 2012.

Fleetwood Mac front man and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham brings his solo acoustic performance in his debut at the Civic Arts Plaza. Buckingham has accomplished almost everything that can be done in rock ‘n’ roll, earning a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Fleetwood Mac, winning countless awards, selling out venues around the world, and helping define the sound of rock for the last three decades. He’s the predominant musical force behind such legendary Fleetwood Mac albums asRumours and the innovative Tusk, and has created a critically acclaimed body of solo work that yielded the hits “Trouble,” “Go Insane,” and “Holiday Road.”

After 30 years signed to Warner Brothers, Buckingham is now an indie artist, releasing a new album on his own called “Seeds We Sow.” The singer/songwriter, Grammy® winner and producer sees his sixth solo effort as his best work yet. Contentment and peace in his life are evident throughout the album. From the soft melodic pop/rock tinge of “End of Time” and its most rocking track, “One Take,” to the touching “When She Comes Down” and the almost lullaby-esque hushed tones of the gorgeous closing number, “She Smiles Sweetly,” the album showcases Buckingham’s full arsenal of skills.

Tickets are $36-61 and on sale Friday, March 23, 2012 at 12:00 noon. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster (800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com) or the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Box Office, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard. For information call 805-449-ARTS (2787) or visit www.civicartsplaza.com.

LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM TAKING HIS SOLO ACT ON THE ROAD STARTING MAY 3 IN SOLANA BEACH, CA

http://mi2n.com/press.php3?press_nb=152518

March 27, 2012 -- Legendary guitarist, singer/songwriter/producer, Grammy® Award winner and Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame member LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM is gearing up for a new round of tour dates beginning May 3 in Solana Beach, CA and concluding Monday, May 21 in Spokane, WA. More shows throughout the U.S. will be announced in the coming weeks.

In his intimate-one-man show, Lindsey will showcase his distinctive guitar picking style and instantly recognizable voice in his usual awe inspiring form, captivating his audience with songs from his recent album, Seeds We Sow as well as performing a combination of favorites from his previous solo albums, along with a variety of Fleetwood Mac classics.

Regarding the new tour Buckingham says, "As I've grown as an artist, I've gotten more and more in touch with my center, and that center is voice and guitar. Over time it has become increasingly vital to express more with less; that is my touchstone now, and the embodiment of that philosophy is what will be largely represented in the new show. so this is the first time it was clearly stated - by LB - that this will be something different - a completely solo tour!

I wouldn't call it outside his comfort zone. Maybe all acoustic is outside of the audience's, but not his.

Sure, he's performed many solo acoustic songs in the past, but it was always just a segment of a full show consisting of a band and rocking-out numbers- part of the ebb and flow that made Fleetwood Mac shows so dynamic and satisfying. I am sure it's a lot more challenging to craft a show arc comprised of just solo acoustic material. And it goes without saying that he will have to retrofit his big hits with Fleetwood Mac to fit the solo acoustic idiom. I mean, can you imagine "Go Your Own Way" as a solo acoustic piece? "Tusk?" Those songs are so defined by their manic, propulsive rhythms that it may be impossible to pull them off effectively without a full band. I suspect that given the pressure to sustain an audience's attention for an hour plus, the setlist will be very hit-heavy.

i hope you are wrong. remember, we were making our solo acoustic lists the first time we've heard this will be a completely solo tour, and GYOW or Tusk in particular did not really enter my mind... i think? i should go check. he has tons of songs that can be great if reworked acoustically, including IOOT. but yeah, he'd have to have more Mac songs than he's being doing lately (WATL comes to mind ).

although i would actually like him to do some of those huge electric guitar solos (like ISA) that he might be able to do alone somehow - but it seems the drums would be really really missed. i don't see Tusk being one of them. i might be completely wrong, Tusk already uses many prerecorded parts anyway...
