Default Florence and the Machine - Ceremonials!

Have you guys heard this? I finally downloaded it. I really liked her first album, but I figured she would suffer the sophmore jinx. Man, was I wrong. I like this better then the first album. Infact, I love it. One reviewer described it as Tribal - Mystic. That hit the nail on the head. You can really hear how Florence has been influenced by Stevie - dark, mystic and it's like she is on a ledge. GREAT ALBUM! I am becoming a major fan.

Ceremonials rocks! I think Shake It Out is her best song. Though I'm also quite fond of the others, such as Lover To Lover, Never Let Me Go, Heartlines, etc. Florence is such a unique singer/songwriter. I think she's one of the best out there today.

My favorite song is No Light, No Light. She put out a real, complete album.

That is a great song and the lyrics are great.

Shake it up

Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play

And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn

And I've been a fool and I've been blind
I can never leave the past behind
I can see no way, I can see no way
I'm always dragging that horse around

And our love is pastured such a mournful sound
Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground
So I like to keep my issues strong
But it's always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaaah

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah

I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart
Cause I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah

And given half the chance would I take any of it back
It's a fine romance but it's left me so empty
It's always darkest before the dawn

Oh woah, oh woah...

And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope
It's a shot in the dark and right at my throat
Cause looking for heaven, found a devil in me
Looking for heaven, found a devil in me
Well what the hell I'm gonna let it happen to me

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah

Ceremonials is great .Florence Welch is very talented all around.Quite a bit better than the overhyped Adele IMHO.

OK. I re-lstened to this album. Not as bad as i remember. Tracks like Shake it Out, What the Water Gave Me, Never let Me Go, Only if for A night are all great. The problem I have is this album is so much. Every song is so packed and intense that there's hardly room for breath. As a result, the mid-point of this album, for me, kinda drags. Starting at No Light, No Light. Then picks up again at Spectrum. So my verdict........Great album, slight step down from Lungs, IMO.
