It's referencing the fifth amendment to the constitution, basically saying that nobody shall be forced to bare witness against themselves in a court of law. Ie; nobody shall be forced to say something that would incriminate themselves.

Although it should be stressed that 'ole is definitely a Northern thing. The further North you get in England, the less you'll hear the letter "H" and the more you'll hear the letter "T".

That is so true. Whenever I get particularly wound up, I get VERY Northern. Like I start using "me" instead of "my" and everything.

When I'm drunk, I just get Geordie, for some reason, and call everyone Pet.

Me too! Usually when I speak, I could be mistaken for somebody with more of an upper class background. But when I'm stressed or especially passionate you'd think I was raised by a pack of Border Collies in a Farmer's kitchen.

YES! That's so what I'm like. The amount of times I've been told "You can't be from here, you're too posh!" is unbelievable. And then they hear me stressed. The accent comes out and the swear words start to flow.

Eee. We make Northerners sound so lovely.

You can really tell what a person is like when you get them stressed. Unfortunately, if my "stressing over dissertation" self is anything to go by, I'm apparently a sociopath -_-. Though in my own defense, that only really results in myself holing up in my room for days watching Star Trek and thinking of reasons why I'm not doing any tangible work.

I did that last week. It was The Tudors vs Final Fantasy XIII-2. The video game won. Until Thursday night / Friday morning.

Jtis, I'm at the Bjork concert tonight at the NY Science Center. It's so wicked cool! The entire museum has been done up in Biophilia drag.

And the stage is set in the middle of this little room with undulating glass and concrete walls.

Who cares if the album sucks? This is too cool!

Yeah, I think 95% of Americans know that you call cigarettes fags. It's pretty common knowledge, and I doubt anyone would be offended, since it's in common usage there.
