Default End of Time

I finally brought my ipod to work. And End of Time came up randomly. I replayed it over and over and over. Then I went to the album and played the complete album over and over. What a gem! I think End of Time is the way Lindsey feels about his generation, everything is just coming to the end... career, relevance... it is such a great song. The song is an anthem.

welcome to lindsey board

EOT is musically not among my favorites from SWS, but i like the lyrics a lot - they are, for lack of a better word, mature. thought-through and thought-provoking. experienced. lived.

Default End of Time

I really like this song, as well. I like the acoustic version even better (available as a download on Amazon).

He is just making music as well as he did in his prime. I loved his stuff on Say You Will. I thought his songs were stellar. I have never understood why Bleed to Love Her was never released as a single.

I wish some producer would use End of Time for a movie.

OMG, "End Of Time" is my love!

I have loved that song since I first played this album and I think, in parts, he is also singing personally about himself.

Sometimes people come to an age where they self-reflect about who they were, who they are now, and where they are going.

I love this song.

Thumbs up

End of Time is definitely one of my favorite LB songs. I love the vulnerability and transparency in the lyrics:

Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
Give us back our youth
When they finally come to bury us
Maybe then, we'll tell the truth

yes, i love what you said here!! and exactly how i felt about this song. it's not a little love song like he used to write anymore... he has matured, seemed to have faced some real life instead of just living in that little FM bubble, is facing getting older and mortality, and expressing it in a song.

It's sad, but I think he totally accepts it. He really never seemed to enjoy the superstar thing. He seems ready for anything that will happen. I think Stevie has a hard time accepting it. She will not go without a fight, eventhough it has to happen.

You have a point Jondular. There comes a time in all our lives where we contemplate our morality. Sometimes it happens early on, for others it may be later.

In any case, this song is beautiful and deep. I love the acoustic version as well. It is a song that, I feel, could really be performed slower and with just Lindsey and be SO powerful.

You are so right elle! I adore this song. I recall someone had said, in their initial review of this album in the "First impressions" thread that SWS had no "catchy" songs. I'm sorry, but what is this? This song is so memorable, melodic, and catchy.

AND it's a deep song as well.

yeah i remember reading that and thinking "huh?!" - how can anybody who listened to that album even once not hear all those hooks? TTWLG, IOOT, OT, EOT... hey, lots of Os and Ts in the names of these songs

EDIT: although i like the lyrics, i still do feel EOT music to be a bit too adult contemporary for my taste. in retrospect, he probably could have switched songs that he did on Conan and Fallon, and play EOT on Conan (however i personally would've hated that on the day of album release!) and IOOT on Fallon - since that seems to be more musically progressive show.

I feel you. It's a little "Steal My Heart Away" in that sense.

But IOOT is simply a work of art. I still play it like it's my first time.
