I don't think it's unlikely, but I was surprised by it and thought it fitting for Tom's flat vocal on one hand. Without a musical context, I think it's a good description in that it puts me in mind of yowling. Tom's voice does that and I don't mean that in a perjorative sense either, though I realize it's a description that is not entirely flattering to Petty.

From a musically historical perspective, I think it generally refers to someone who sounds more soulful than Tom does, though. Maybe that's what Stevie was going for.

I find 'cahoot's funnier.

IMO the day Stevie linked up with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is the day her music started to go south. So sad.

Oh, good Lord! Wasn't this supposed to be about Tom? Leave it to Stevie to turn it around and make it all about HER! :P

I wrote a song about him I've never recorded, but I will someday. It goes, "Sometimes he's my best friend, even when he's not around."
What's this? Has this surfaced as a demo? Or did she really mean "I've never recorded..."?

We all know she adores Tom and basically completely fangirls over him. So naturally she took this opportunity to brag about the fact that she's friends with him haha

It's odd that to me some of the people who made the list with limited output.Tom Petty and Sheryl Crow and Pattie Smith and many others are not more worthy than the mac.

IDGAF that they didn't include Mac or Stevie in their list. I don't understand why the heck it should annoy so many of you? Who cares.

Viv, I think you've been kind of bitchy lately, but this is one statement I agree with.

Funny that they told Stevie she needed SDMHA or else she would not have a hit single on Bella Donna. How wrong they were with the record!
Yes, but Stevie was venturing into unknown territory with her first album. While a success within Fleetwood Mac, her career as a solo artist was still questionable.

Stop Dragging My Heart Around was a smart, calculated move as the lead single. Tom's presence assured the song and album would get traction, so to pave the way for Leather and Lace, Edge of 17, and After the Glitter Fades.
