The lyrics are really cliche and the vocal is uninspired. I feel like it never really goes anywhere. Weak songwriting. Sorry,
but not single-worthy for my ears.
Only the chorus really works for me.

They are 2 separate issues to me. Long Way To Go, Whole Lotta Trouble, and Listen To The Rain could easily have been sung live because at the time her chops were well marbled lol. Planets and FFG were actually sung live and so was Ghosts Are Gone.

Regardless I'm talking about singles, videos, and marketing. Her set-lists don't comprise anything from OSOTM or SA now anyway rock songs or not.

Record companies never learn when they try to capitalize on a trend, they are usually 2 trends too late. Stevie is not country. She may be good at it and her fans may like the influenced tracks but she was marketed as a rocker, established as such and is expected to be. Manage the expectations not the trends. The queen of rock will never get back on radio with folk-like FWIW or with rockabilly-like IYD UNTIL the expectation is first met with something like Ghosts Are Gone. Start with a Stop Draggin' My Heart Around and THEN audiences will be open to a ballad (L&L) as a follow-up. Open with a Stand Back and then IAF will be swallowed. Open with a Rooms On Fire (over Long Way To Go or Whole Lotta Trouble) and you may get mild interest in a follow-up but your chances are diminished. Open with a Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind over a Listen To The Rain (particularly during grunge rock fandom) and it'll be too late for anything else. TISL needed to open with Fall From Grace. The same way a DJ paces a show and manipulates people to being happy enough to tolerate other things, you give them "the" track first.
Hmmm, I get what you're saying, but I don't think it's necesarrily that cut and dry. Stand Back is synthy and dancey, and one could easily argue they were chasing a trend with that one given what was on the charts in 1982 and 1983. Also, in my opinion, Rooms On Fire was by far the most single-worthy choice from TOSOTM. And as far as Stevie being a rocker, that was what the record execs decided they wanted to market at the time BellaDonna was being released, but I'm not sure why they felt they HAD to go that way. Up to that point, how many rockers had Stevie recorded with Fleetwood Mac? None really, although some of the tunes (especially Rhiannon) were harder in concert than on record.

Whole Lotta Trouble has been performed on several tours.
