There is no doubt Barbara's passing has struck Stevie to the core & may have also just lighted a huge fire under Stevie, who we well know, has so much unfinished business & promised projects to tend to. Stevie focus could be razor sharp right now. I don't think it's unreasonable at all to think she could pen & record an 11-12 song album quickly & have it out sooner than later.

Yes, Stevie's has been somewhat of a procrastinator, and had every excuse in the book about taking 10 years to record another record. But I really think time is of the essence now, Stevie must realize this, and her mom's passing has made this more of a reality. Through Dave Stewarts encouragement & creative enthusiasm, he really showed Stevie a different way of recording was possible, in that it doesn't have to be tedious & torture.

If you think back to 2010, Stevie & Dave began writing and recording the bulk of IYD late Feb -April at her home. Short break in May (when Dave had oversea "Ghosts" commitments etc.), resuming in June until the beginning of July - laying the remainder of the musical tracks in the studio. Then Stevie toured that August. After which that autumn was overdubs & getting "Soldier's Angel" just right. Finishing off all recording & mixing by the end of November 2010, The record was completed (aside from artwork) by Dec. 2010. So all & all IYD was recorded in 5 months over the span of 10 months at best. And it was held another 6 months for final release.

Taking that all into account, along the rumored possible inclusion of a "Silver Springs" re-recording, probably from a more intimate approach. Throw in the huge possibility & potential of "Touched By An Angel" getting re-wroked, or re-released, plus her pulling from her VAST supply of vault songs. Just add 4-6 newly written songs & a possible "cover" song of sentimental value to Stevie & her mother AND bam...there's your new record - completely in the realm of possibility. And If this project happens, it will be a more somber, intimate and serious record with a lot less hoopla than any of her releases. Which would mean less marketing spin, a more low-key release & unveiling. I imagine from Stevie's point of view, the pressure is off now. She just released her 1st album in 10 years with aplomb & acclaim - now that must have been nerve-wracking to unveil. The hard part is over. I believe Stevie is now on a creative mission, or at least I'd like to believe. So I remain optimistic, something positive and cathartic will come out of this for Stevie & her fans in one way or another.

I agree with the statement she could get an album out by this summer once she puts her mind to it. And although she wants to pen new songs probably from new lyrics that have to do and are inspired from her mom's death, the fact remains she doesn't ever need to write another song again. She could - if she wanted to - just go to her vault and record those songs. They could be given to a producer today and be done in 4 months easy.

Please don't compare Stevie with the talentless shill Madonna. As for the tribute album if it indeed is released the earliest it will be seen is very late 2012.

My guess is someone probably over heard her say "My next album will be dedicated to my mom"
Also the article refers to Stevie's mom as her "mum" which is an English term for mother. I highly doubt you will be seeing a new album from Stevie this year.

Don't forget there were actually interviews conducted about the "Rumours" anniversary edition with bonus material and all these wonderful things that never materialized. Also the "Live In Australia" album that never came to light. The "Tribute" album is not happening anytime soon, if at all.
The only article that refers to her as her "mum" is the one from contactmusic.com which is based in the UK.

I guess it could be done, but I'm not holding my breath. Although if we look at the manic recording she did on the heels of the Wild Heart for Rock a Little, a vast amount of material was recorded not long after the first album. But that was a different era. Considering that she's pumped about the results of IYD, and rightfully so, maybe she's got her recording bug back and truly will surprise us with another amazing album hot off the heels of IYD.

With all due respect, I wouldn't be surprised if her mother passing has made Stevie realise that she simply doesn't have the time to wait ten years in between albums anymore. The impression I get from "Tribute Album" is an entirely new studio album, but one dedicated to her mother's memory. Which would be a very beautiful, and a very Stevie thing for her to do.

Although, I think if Stevie had her way, instead of caving to people at her label, she would have had an album out in 2005 - just 4 years after TISL and 2 after SYW - and carried on making albums on a more consistent basis, rather than getting stuck into touring again and again. So it wouldn't surprise me if she does have a new album out this year.

When did the recordings for the Wild Heart album begin? I was under the impression that that album took less than 6 months.

I do think it is possible to have something out this year. Whether or not it will actuallly happen, I have no idea. I'll keep my fingers crossed, though!

It's totally possible^^^and looking back at her past is inapplicable right now. Back then she was juggling addictions & FM. Then she did her fair share of $$ grab tours in the 00's. All that is over. Stevie is not in high demand on the tour circuit, unless she teams with a big headliner ala Rod Stewart, esp. not this soon after her IYD trek. And remember, she drew a HARD line in the sand back in late 09' with FM, committing herself to record solo. And then drew another hard line in late 11' saying that 2012 would see no Fleetwood Mac projects (Hmmmm, something had changed) - furthering that by stating she has a "couple" more projects to complete. We can assume one is the IYD documentary which was 99% finished until they decided to add fan vids So perhaps around the time she'd made that statement to the press, Stevie knew her mom was close, and this idea & writing had already begun that she would record an album in tribute to her mother. She could have already written some songs with D. Stewart while on tour down under

If the album is cover songs or vault songs, then a summer release is possible (though I would still say highly unlikely). If the story is to be believed though, it says she wants to compose a tribute album to her mother. A summer release for songs that haven't been written yet? No way.

All I am committing to is that anything is possible Stevie is at a unique crossroads in her career - she is calling all the shots, doing whatever she wants. If Stevie goes in and records another record it would be a blessing indeed! And this time around, more then anytime ever before, Stevie would make this record on her terms completely & unedited.

After the brilliance of IYD, and radio mostly ignoring her, along with other classic rock acts. Stevie is keenly aware she only has to please herself & her muse. This could be the most honest & breathtaking record Stevie undertakes. We can only hope there is a grain of truth in this unsubstantiated rumor. But it's totally possible for a release in 2012. My immediate burning question is, does Stevie even have a record deal with Reprise anymore? Did IYD fulfill & complete her contract??

This is great news.I like to know how some of these artists old and new slap a cd together quick like in months and have multiple cd's on the charts in one year.I know the digital life made it easier and faster to produce a cd.even back in the vinyl days artist were flinging out lp in 6 months period.
