The music of the songs is courstesy of Dave Stewart, if you believe the album liner notes.

Lightbulb 40 years!

Stevie Nicks has been on the road most of her life. She endlessly tours. She claims that the business people said, "don't make a record...they'll steal it" which kind of sounds like Illuminati...or conspiracy theories. haha

Seriously, her endless demos to full completions of unreleased songs and studio sessions and just her and a tape recorder... stretching from Fritz in the late 60s until today with a ton of stuff that keeps surfacing.

I think, she is totally dedicated to her loyal fans...and she is so excited to have a solo album that she digs. I have a hunch, as I've said before...Stevie must have invested into this project. Its seems weird for record execs and management to tell her...don't work...its a waste...to today, in the hardest of times for many Americans...financially and at each others throats and bullets over political affiliation, war and sexuality.

She won 1 Grammy for Dreams. It was her song but, collectively Fleetwood Mac. 1977.

34 or so years later...she's recording or performing or charity working somewhere...

I think she and her works aren't over a Grammy. Please, don't you think she would have quit during Klonopin, Street Angel, SA Tour, Her weight being reviewed instead of her full house standing ovation concerts?

She does it for the "things money can't buy"
She said so herself.

And I believe her.

Well, surely not like Jessica Simpson, who is not really a singer or songwriter, while Stevie has been one for 40 years.

Since Stevie has had country songs in her catalog from the beginning, I don't think it's as exploitative as Rod Stewart doing several albums worth of classic tunes was.

no problem, just trying to clear up some facts:
  • the band and their 2 co-producers received album of the year Grammy for Rumours in 1978.
  • the whole album was #1 for 31 weeks.
  • there were 4 top 10 singles from the album, and one of them was #1 for 1 week.

Swift was young enough and pop enough to get popular, it wasn't her country genre which made everyone love her.
Taylor's not really country anyway. Pop country at best.

I don't think it would have hurt to release FWIW to country radio, but I agree it's not necessary or helpful for Stevie to try & "go country" completely.

Why are some people suggesting that Stevie "go country" or start rapping just so she can get a Grammy award? I'm sorry, but I'd lose a tremendous amount of respect for her if she did that. Her constant shilling for Katy Perry and Rihanna already irritates me.

Yes, this. There are so many great singers and songwriters out there, and Stevie feels compelled to bark up the trees of the ones who need 78 writers to churn out an album.

However.....and I don't even like saying this.... Stevie likes what she likes, and apparently that's Rhianna and Katy Perry. Art is subjective and totally a matter of opinion for everyone - there are no "facts" about what is good or not good when it comes to art, especially music.

And...I actually like a lot of Rhianna's songs and vocals.

I wonder if she really cares if she gets a grammy.Or any other awards to that matter. The Grammys are nominated by the industry .Am I right. She rather make her fans happy with her performing and song writing. She's awarded by her fans like us that fly ride the bus, the train and drive for millions of miles around the world to come to see her concerts for the last 30 plus years.Stand inline for hours on end to get a CD/litho signed and have a priceless 5 second chat eye to eye with her Also buy countless copies of her albums,cd's .tapes.She happy when us fans are happy.

I sorta don't buy the Katy Perry, Rhianna, Beyonce thing either... Basically, I look at it as Stevie fighting for her career, trying to hook up with hottest artists of the moment. At least, she isn't doing the Bonnie Raitt thing... which was basically sucking up to the old-timers. Yes, it got Bonnie some grammy's but her grammy's always fealt dubios to me. Nicks of Time is not anywhere as good Bella Donna, but Bonnie had the better the story and made some clever moves.

Stevie has made a ton of mistakes in her career. She is trying to play it really smart. Who can blame her?

So if you record a country album, then you get a Grammy? It's that easy?

A lot of Stevie's music has country influences; she wouldn't be selling out if she put out an album that had predominent country leanings. It would essentially be country rock, which is a style she's been mining throughout her entire career.

I am equally irritated by her shilling for Katy Perry and Rihanna. Aside from my personal ambivilance about them, I don't see the musical connection between them and Stevie. Is she just pandering to them because they represent the popular youth market? They are so contrived and lightweight in comparison to her.

I would think she'd be referencing more (current) classic rock and roll artists -- but not sure who that would be. At least Lindsey is speaking about respectable new bands -- artists which I can clearly see why they caught his interest.
