I'm looking forward to the Lindsey show at Goucher College tonight. Who is going? I started the month seeing Stevie And ending the month with Buckingham. This is going to be a great show at a great venue.

i'll start with a roundup of some tweets:
@ZAZ49 @lndseybuckingham (@ Goucher College Kraushaar Auditorium for Lindsey Buckingham w/ 2 others) 4sq.com/oCevkJ @jimjag I'm at Goucher College Kraushaar Auditorium for Lindsey Buckingham w/ 4 others 4sq.com/qxoX1q @SomeMoreTim At goucher about to see Lindsey Buckingham. Kinda really pumped. @KenMac55 Amazing: Lindsey Buckingham at Goucher College. @paulcati Lindsey Buckingham @ Goucher College was amazing thanks man. @ellellew @paulcati he was! but security - not so much ![]() now a brief review: the venue was very nice, but - no aisles and no space between the stage and the 1st row. that also meant that there was almost no bad seat in the house, and the house was full. venue has awkward layout, so the Buckingham equipment truck and roadie bus were parked right in the parking lot with everybody else. actually, that's how we recognized that we were in the right place - i could recognize the trucks. band bus was parked right in front of the main entrance, where everybody needed to pass to go in or out of the venue anyway, so if somebody stayed after the show, i'd be really curious whether lindsey and the band came down those stairs to the bus. before the show, saw Walfredo sitting at one of the tables right upfront where everybody was waiting (my son wouldn't believe me that's band's drummer just chilling there 5 mins before the start of the show). so - as i said, the venue is very nice, good acoustic and good view from everywhere. but - not well suited for audience going to the stage and that was highly annoying. audience was highly enthusiastic starting immediately from Shut us down, actually of the 3 shows so far, that was the most enthusiastic audience right at the start. however - the layout w/ no space to the stage and no aisles is not very conducive to any mosh pit- like activities . there were standing O's after almost every song, starting with the acoustic set, but people didn't stay standing, and didn't dance enough for my taste. although my husband sitting a row behind me said that he saw plenty of dancing, and that on many occasions the only people not standing up were he and our son. so maybe i am wrong...but - other than the awkward lack of aisles, my main gripe is with the security - wish security didn't insist that everybody needs to stand right in front of their seat only (if we had to stand ), and wouldn't let anybody move anywhere. had a long argument with the security guy - during encores! how stupid is that - you don't let people go upfront during encores? and, everybody sat down during treason... nobody could come upfront to strum guitar on GYOW... but other than that, as i said crowd was actually enthusiastic and the performance was great ![]() the other positive outcome - my husband and my friend loved it, and we got into discussing and analyzing the whole concert, song by song on the way home, while listening to SWS CD! that was pure bliss for me! and my son thought it was "ok" (high praise for him!) - although he still says he's never posting on places like FB that he went to see some old rocker or FM . of course, my friend who went with us is his best friend's mom, so that will not work out too good... watching me dancing upfront, he also deadpanned: "don't think i didn't see you there. my mom's a stoner " oh, and he was fascinated by LB's hair, he kept going on and on how he never saw weirder or worse hair in his life (apparently it's genetic - we have to discuss the hair)...so to sum up, concert was great, but i loved what with circumstances / venue layout amounted to a much wilder crowd in ridgefield - and glad i made it there last weekend to experience how crazy it can be (oh, the LB concert mosh pit of ridgefield ![]() ).at goucher, audience was enthusiastic, but since security made everybody stay by their seats, everybody would end up sitting down all the time (despite standing ovations after almost every song)... i can't even imagine how crazy this baltimore/DC crowd may have gotten if they had a venue like ridgefield! ![]() what else... oh lindsey sounded like he has a slight cold, especially when he was talking. what he was saying had all the same content as usual but it was more rambling than usual, he was using some different wording - don't know whether he's just fed up with exact same words all the time (or he noticed that fans who follow him around are), or he was on some kind of cold medicine that made him ramble more. in any case, change of wording was most definitely welcome and cute. if he does have a cold / is on cold medicine, that never showed up in his playing and singing though - he was as amazing as ever and then some! ![]() oh, and at the end, right before SWS, people were yelling various things to him, and after he said something somebody yelled "what's up with that?" - he laughed and said "yeah, that was funny!". Lindsey was on on fire last night in Towson at Goucher. The audience really supported the new tunes from Seeds. All of the Fleetwood Mac tunes got the biggest cheers as usual. I really like the the sequencing of the set, it worked very well. He sounded better then ever and his energy is truly amazing.

i know everybody already knows this, but we may forget in a few years and i want to have it documented somewhere: That's the way love goes and In our own time are absolute beasts in concert!
![]() IOOT especially was just perfect yesterday! that chorus just goes right through your whole body, you can really feel it!! and also, we all agreed on the way back home (remember, some of the people with me heard these new songs for the first time) that most of the new songs sound soooo much stronger and better live that on the CD (although i have to say that i don't like the sound system in my husband's car nearly as much as in mine, and songs sound different w/ different stereo systems, of course). another comment was that if this exact concert is coming out on DVD/CD combo it will be a great DVD, and that people would love to have these live versions on CD. (I'm still confused as to whether CD is coming together w/ DVD in the US - like it is in other countries - for the "Small machine" DVD - i really hope so!). TTWLG was my husband's favorite. he also had an interesting comment - that he can see that song being covered by some punk band with gravely male or female voice and that it would be also just as interesting and great as when LB does it live. people were also fascinated w/ all different guitars and guitar changes, which band member was using which at what time, and all 3 guitarists in the front vs Brett on keyboard arrangements. husband commented that he didn't like the red Trouble-guitar, that it sounded too thin for his taste somehow, but that starting w/ Shut us down (which he never heard before) and going into all these acoustic versions was such a strong opener, and lindsey is unbelievably impressive to see live. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() EDIT: so that's interesting - when i ordered it said just DVD, but i picked the one w/ higher price (choice was between i think $13.99 and 10.99 at the time) just in case there is a CD - so now my order changed to $17.99 and is listed as DVD+CD, finally. great concert last night. full auditorium about 1000 people. standing ovation after every song and as he came out.lindsey came out at the back of the venue and went straight into a van that led to Sheraton, where i was staying!!! lindsey went straight in to call home. i hung out with neale and talked about how lindsey needs better promotion and he felt the same. i also mentioned new music for Mac to him and he said the band knew. he also loved the auditorium because it was like an indoor amphitheater. we also fantasized over an unplugged Rumours concert or just Rumours in its entirety. he also said he reads the ledge so thank you Neale for hanging with my father and i last night. be well!

i told neale that we wanted new Mac music and he said that the band knows that they should make new music but nothing further, just that they're most likely touring next year.

I really appreciate all of your experiences. I agree with your husband, elle, that "That's The Way Love Goes" is astonishingly great live. Ugh, and my bb "IOOT" is just...
I love ALL the new stuff live, but then I love the whole album as well.I really freaking wish I could have been there. Dang it!! I can't say it enough that I really feel work puts a damper on things sometimes. Anyway, so glad you all had a great time- even with the weird audience set-up. And pretty awesome they read The Ledge. Hope I haven't said anything to incriminate myself in their eyes.![]()

This was the show that I wanted to go to, but I couldn't get good seats; I didn't want to sit in the back.
Did anyone get some pictures or videos or did security stop you? Lee ![]()

I loved the venue but...yeah, if you had front row, it was NOT a great front row. Seated, I would imagine the stage would have been higher than most people's heads. I was in the third row, just off center and I LOVED my seat. Actually, I loved it more than any other seat I've been in all tour (including that magnficient view of the giant amp from my seat in front row at Town Hall
![]() Kraushaar had good leg room and it felt very spacious and not cramped. And it really looked like you'd be able to see very well from anywhere. But, yeah, bad for mosh-pitting. And, there really was no great crowd at the stage as there usually is. I just adored this show. I think it was my favorite. The first one is a sentimental favorite because I was with friends and nothing is better than that. Second, was good but...I was in my own hometown, after a day of work, thinking about making my transportation home...and then the whole cramped amp thing... But, this was lovely. I will admit it was a kind of scary walk (back to my hotel) for a paranoid New Yorker to be making through a college campus, at night, when she has no sense of direction AT ALL. Would I forever be lost, destined to wander through the night on the manicured lawns of Towson, MD? And, if so, would Stevie write a sequel to Moonlight: A Vampire's Dream in my honor???? Anyway, I digress. Back to the show. I was totally into this thing--I mean, every single song I just stared at Lindsey and thought...how absolutely beautiful this all is. When I first became a fan, his "new solo album" was 99% complete. It took another gazillion years to finish that 1% (and, yeah, I know it wasn't his doing but record companies, blah, blah). But, we've had 3 albums and 3 tours! In a relatively short amount of time. And I feel so priviledged to have seen so many concerts. And, I will totally admit to getting a little teary during End of Time.Don't exactly know why. It just got to me. And, Under the Skin still makes me want to melt into the floorboards. The lyrics on that song are amazing. I love Stars are Crazy live but I could swear he messed up the lyrics a bit. It doesn't matter but something struck me toward the end. There was a lady doing a dance with a BuckinghamNicks cover. I think that's part of what Lindsey was referring to when he said "what's up with that?" He was making faces all night over that cover. It was kind of funny. And, no, I actually wasn't POed at the canned speeches. I think I've reached a place where I just get that it's part of the whole thing and moved on. Either that or I just wasn't in a crabby mood yesterday). And I like how he closed his last tour with Shut us Down and opens this one with the same. It never made sense to me until yesterday when I got this whole "to be continued" vibe. Uh, what else? I'm still fuzzy headed from traveling (I've had some vertigo issues and dramamine makes me totally dopey/dopier). Oh--yesterday--he didn't appear to sweat as much. He just kind of glistened. And, at the end, a bead of sweat seemed to be stuck to his eyebrow and it looked like glitter. ha! That was a silly thing to remember....so, of course, I did. Someone gave him flowers and he blew her a kiss. Then, he handed them to Brett (it was before his solo curtain call) and Brett did the whole, "for me?" routine. It was cute. I saw Brett and Wally enter the auditorium, prior to it opening. I was there very early. People plopped themselves down on the slight stoop on the ground but I saw a reddish ant and what looked like a tick and...I got up right quick. I don't need Lyme disease, thankyouverymuch. And, lo and behold, while I was writing an email in the lobby of the Sheraton (no wifi in the rooms), who passes me by but Lindsey~I was so shocked, I didn't say anything. Just smiled like a dope. But, I was giddily happy about it. A few minutes later, he came down again to see if the gift shop was open (they had snackfood there). The woman had just gone on break. So, he went back up. So, two non-stage Lindsey sightings and a great concert. Sooooo worth it! ETA: They were cracking down on photos. Everyone who pulled out a camera had a security person come to them (I think most of "security" consisted of students, to tell the truth). I had a camera but only took a picture of the place pre-concert. ETA(Again): Dramamine has killed more brain cells. He didn't end with Shut us Down last time. He ended w/Time Precious Time, didn't he? So, there goes my theory. Phoeey. Last edited by Regina; 10-01-2011 at 09:33 PM.. |
