Hello all!

Just got back to Cleveland from Toledo...would have made it much, much earlier, but there was a ridiculous detour getting out of town.

I'll post more details tomorrow, but Stevie sounded great...no signs of any voice troubles at all. She was all smiles, and made a comment at the end about how great of a crowd we were, so accepting of all the new songs. And I agree. It was a very good crowd.

More to come tomorrow, along with my footage of the FWIW video!

Stevie sounded great. However, sorcerer was dropped and not replaced. Landslide was still in place of iyd. No opener. 14 song set. Started about 8:20 and done before 10. I missed the first four songs. Running late from out of town but figured it would be fine with the opener. No such luck. Also, the place was at least half empty.

I think it's good she's aware of her online fans but I shudder to think she or her people ever read these boards, because of some of the topics sometimes.

If it's true, I think being on our best behavior is best.

Also could be possible that certain fans that meet her tell her of these forums and threads so maybe that's how she knows? Who knows.

Yup, those were the details in a nutshell. She was very happy to be playing indoors and mentioned that at one point during the show. I was able to make it from 4th row up to the stage for the Edge walk, awesome experience.

I recorded audio and got some amazing photos. We stayed in Toledo and I'm off to Cincy today. Once I'm back home in Michigan, I'll post picks and audio links.

Just wanted to add that there were no voice issues last night and she was pretty chatty between songs. She seemed to have a really good time performing.

Last night's show was absolutely fantastic. I heard she sold less than half the seats but she seemed to genuinely love our audience. Right before Love Is she thanked us for being so welcoming of the new songs and giving her a reason to still be creative. She said we were a fantastic audience and she would "never forget it." And then she teared up big time when she did Love Is. Certain parts towards the end reminded me of Rhiannon in the HBO Special. I thought the girl was gonna lose it.

She was very animated last night and more interactive with the audience than I have ever seen personally. She was looking all around the crowd and making eye contact with numerous people. It was almost as if she was more appreciative of who did come because the place was so empty.

Her voice was in excellent shape last night. She did a great GDW wail and she killed Moonlight. Best live version I've heard yet. She was very intense throughout the song and did an awesome wail at the end (better than The Wiltern). The crowd was very enthusiastic about the new songs. Every one of them got an intro applause except Ghosts Are Gone, which she ended up doing what she said she would-- standing in front of the mic so we could hear the tambo. If that's the case, create some kind of Gold and Braid dance at least.

The Edge walk was insane. I crawled over chairs to get out of my seat after Leather and Lace but then security was not letting anyone up to the stage. The drum solo is going and we're all yelling at the security that this is what we do at Stevie show-- she sings Edge of 17 and then she shakes our hands, but they weren't having any of it. And then we got yelled at for standing in the aisle while waiting for the song to start. I literally sat on Alicia's (HauntedSong) lap so I wouldn't get sent back to the middle of my row

When Waddy came out everyone just rushed the stage. There was literally more pushing/shoving/hair pulling (could have killed the woman behind me) than I have ever experienced. This was even worse than The Wiltern show, believe it or not. I ended up getting lucky and got two handshakes. The first one she clasped my left hand with a couple other people's but then held on to just mine for a good 5 seconds. And then she took my right hand into both of hers and gave it a little squeeze and gave me a little gracious nod. I was a little bit on cloud 9.

Overall the show was incredible and I'm so glad I was there. I'm off to Cincy tonight. . .

I can echo what the others have said, and add a few thoughts/observations of my own:

I got there around 7:40, and bought a giant beer...I figured I would allow myself one drink during the opener, then have time to go pee before Stevie came on. After sitting in my seat for about ten minutes, I realized that Stevie's ribbon-and-bead-covered mic was the only one there. Damn. Needless to say, by about Rhiannon, I was crossing my legs for the remainder of the show.

It was a very good crowd in the first 5 rows. I'd say about 80% of the people stood the whole time (with the exception of the 4-5 in the very front center). Some people sat during Soldier's Angel, but for the most part, it was a very good, receptive crowd, and Stevie commented on that after Love Is. She seemed very, sincerely grateful, and told us how thankful she was that we enjoyed the new songs, and how we're the reason she wants to continue to be creative...SO KEEP STANDING, PEOPLE!!!

It's already been mentioned that after her "Welcome Toledo!" she said something about how happy she was to be there, playing INDOORS. She also apologized for having to take off the red shawl, because she was hot, and then said something about how she's had the shawl for such a long time and that "everyone is talking on the fan lines about the red shawl" (I'm assuming she meant "online," but that's Stevie for you).

A few other random thoughts:

I always get sick of "Dreams" but then when I hear it live, I love it again. She was doing a cute fist-bump thing along with the drum beat at the "like a heartbeat, drives you mad" part on each chorus.

During "Rhiannon," they showed lots of the "Wide Sargasso Sea" footage from the documentary (fire twirlers, people swimming under water, ribbons, Stevie banging the tamourine, etc.)

"Annabel Lee" featured lots of Stevie's drawings on the screen behind her. She flubbed the lyrics quite a bit, starting to sing the "our love was stronger by far than the love..." part when the band was actually going into the little musical break in the middle. When it was time for her to really come in, she had the lyrics off. She brushed it off, and when the song was over, she said "Who knew that at 17 I could write such a complex song! I only know 4 chords!"

"Moonlight" was INCREDIBLE. She said the title of the song as the piano intro was playing. She didn't say "This song is called..." Nope, just she simply said, "Moonlight...A Vampire's Dream." The ending was very intense...during the "Strange...she's laid on the floor in silent pain...just sat on the chair for months just staring" part, she grabbed the mic, squatted down a bit (the standard Stevie Squat), and slowly rotated the mic left and right, seemingly looking out at everyone in the audience, as though she was trying to put a spell on everyone. I've never seen her so deliberately play of the theatrics, in the way that she turned left and right with the microphone, slowly shifting her position around to all sides of the arena. Horrible, horrible, horrible description of her actions, but I'm in law school...colorful, descriptive prose is not my strong point.

It was also during "Moonlight" that I am 95% sure that Stevie stared at me the entire time. 95%,

During "Soldier's Angel," the famous photo of Stevie against the American flag background was on the backdrop throughout:

Landslide had the same standard montage of Stevie through the years, with emphasis on her family/Jess, and it was very touching, as always, and somewhat distracting, only because I found myself drawn to the footage. It really is a nice juxtaposition seeing all the footage of her in her youner, and sometimes wilder, days, and the current clean, happy Stevie singing to us on stage. I thought ending the song with this was touching:

For the band intros, she did the standard "the beautiful redhead" for Lori, and she still introduces her as her sister-in-law. Sharon, she found living in a treehouse. Stevie referred to Sharon, Lori and Waddy as her best friend.

I wanted to pay more attention to "Leather and Lace," but I was too busy, mentally, trying to figure out when to bolt to the stage for the Edge walk. But I will say that I was thrilled to finally hear a song that I thought I'd never hear. She made the comment that she never did the song because the only person she thought she could do it with was never there with her.

I did make it to the front for the Edge walk...we started down during the drum solo, and were told we needed to go back. Security was really, really nice. One man kept telling us to go back to our seats and get out of the aisle, but he did it with a big smile on his face, and wasn't very strict about actually making us move. He looked at us, smiling and said, "I have to tell you to go back to your seats," winked a bit, and then moved on. As soon as Waddy started playing, we dashed to the stage.

From there, I think I was able to get a few big smiles from Lori :-)

Shook her hand, 3/3 on the Edge walk!

"Love Is" was stunning.

After the show, which ended so early (10:30ish!) I made my way to the area where the buses came out...befriend a ledgie (hi Missy!), and we, along with about 20 other people, some of whom I know were also Ledgies, waited for the buses. Eventually, a limo with tinted windows emerged, but no sign of life made itself known. Then the bus left, and I thought I saw Al inside, but still...nobody acknowledged us :-(

All in all, a great show!

I said the same thing about the HBO special for the Atlanta show!
Your security sounds just as bad as ours. They have got to let the venue know that this happens at the end of shows. But I'm glad you got up there. When I was telling my husband about it security I said , "Don't try and come between me and my Stevie. Because you will lose!"
Edit: Oh and I meant to say, Al Ortiz said on his FB staus that Toledo is a diamond in the rough and her hopes its able to re-create itself. And Martha Reeves was at the show and he got to meet her and thanked Stevie for that!

Thanks Josh for the details about the show and for the video. I'm glad it was a good crowd. Cool that you got Stevie looking at you a lot during Moonlight- it's always so awesome when that happens! That's why I always like to have seats in rows 3-5, dead center.

I hope a video of Moonlight pops up somewhere!

She was taking off the red shawl, and said that she's had it for a very long time, and that "they're talking about it all over the fan sites" or something along those lines.

At least that's what I thought I heard!
