I miss Christine like I would miss an arm, but if nothing else, I'm happy she's happy. Listening to Homeward Bound, it's hard not to think about how much of her life she gave to touring, perhaps without enjoying it.

That said, if we remove the emotional component, I do think she's more key to the sound than Mick or John. If we're basing it on the music alone, I could whittle it down to the three writers.
Mick has an instantly recognisable drumsound
John has an instantly recognisable bass sound

They gave the band it's name!!!

But, if this EP will come out I hope it's going to be a "warm up" to a full album.

I don't know about that. There's a feel to the songs that Mick and John bring, and it really doesn't matter who's fronting the band, that is the stamp of the band. I mean, the song "Talkin' To My Heart" from "Time" has a feel to it that is unmistakably Fleetwood Mac.

It also works in reverse. Compare "Crystal" or "Don't Let Me Down Again" from Buckingham Nicks to the Fleetwood Mac versions of those songs. While there's similarity, one is clearly NOT Fleetwood Mac.

Yes, I don't think any of them are expendable. And Mick's drum is just part of what he brings to the band. His personality is also a great binding, cohesive influence, impacting all of the others. So, I do not want to lose anyone and the others would suffer if anyone goes. But, if push comes to shove, I'd take the 3 writers and get studio players to play bass and drum.

It wouldn't sound like the FM we know, but it would be a band I'd be most happy to listen to, if I had to cut 2.

I'd listen to what Chris, Lindsey and Stevie could cobble together alone, before I'd listen to Time. And I'm not being facetious. I enjoyed some cuts on Time, especially Christine's. But if I have to prioritize . . .

No doubt. As Michele said, John and Mick are far from expendable. They're an extraordinary rhythm section, and leave their impressive stamp on every record.
When it comes down to it, though, I would take Christine if I could. Mick and John's absence would leave a massive, gaping hole, but perhaps not the crater Christine's absence created in SYW. Mileage will vary.

That's the only reason I can think for them to do an EP. They keep saying they need to do this or that to "reacquaint" one another to make another studio album (that was the reason they gave for the Unleashed tour too). They have all known each other for several decades... just stop making excuses and getting in the *&%#ing studio already!!

It needs to be a re-convening of an organic process per se before they can do it...
