I respect her alot for doing it the way she did.
I know what you mean, but at the same time, I wouldn't refrain from discussing my political views just because I thought someone would be influenced by them. I think the fault lies in the people who chose to believe certain views just because they like a celebrity, unless of course the celebrity takes advantage of that.

Default good for her

What do they mean "where was she during the campaign?" I hate artists when they stray into politics. Bono, Crow, Striesand have all managed to make me throw up and I'm a Democrat. Just because they are creative does not mean they have good judgement and I'm always suspicious of their motives. (Do they want press time? Are they trying to network with other like artists to further their careers? Do they think they are smarter than everyone else?) At least, Stevie kept her opinions to herself until now, which shows she was sincere.

I personally respect that Stevie as a celebrity was able to keep it personal as to who she voted for...I felt no compunction during this election to reveal to anyone who I intended to vote for, that's why the ballot is secret...democracy should never be swayed by the masses, each vote should be independent and not unduly influenced...

Well, I think this is beautiful. We all have been complaining about no activity/posting from Stevie, so this is cool she wanted to share this poem and her narrative with us.
It does still show a willingness to share experiences with her fans.

One can only hope with the upcoming tour, Stevie is a little bit more open to the whole internet thing as Lindsey embraced YouTube and Obama's use of technology to reach out to people. See Stevie, all technology is not bad.

I agree, I could hear Stevie sing this... Obama also used the phrase "begin again" today in his speech... Perhaps Stevie's dream was a prophetic dream too... ???

That seems to happen a lot, doesn't it? It's like she has some sort of knowledge of what has, or is, happening. Great work... Loved it!

just pondering...not complaining.

I am amazed Stevie's note preceeding the poem holds today's date.

I do believe that is the quickest we have ever received anything through NF!

or perhaps it has been 'in the works' for a while.

I am glad she shared her poem with us.

Hello. My name is NIKI. It has been two years since my last Stevie note.

This is just an opion; this is just my opinion:

I am very disappointed that Stevie chose Obama over Hillary during the Democratic primary

It just makes me sick to my stomach

And depresses me.

Again, just an opinion.

that's an awful lot of emotional investment to put into the political leanings of Our Lady of Menthol.

I don't think you can automatically assume that she chose one or the other- all she is saying is that she knew instinctively in her gut that Obama was the one, regardless of her personal political beliefs. And on a historic day like this, when the country and the developed world is quickly going to hell in a hand basket, all we can really do is just hope that somehow the president can get us out of this mess, regardless of who it is.

I think that she was talking about a feeling she had that he would be the one. At least she wasn't out there promoting Sarah Palin. Honestly, I am just glad that Stevie wasn't being political with us. She kept us where we belonged at her concerts... enveloped in her love and music. Now, Madonna was all, "OBAMA!!!!" but I expect that out of her. Going to her concerts is like going to a Pollitical Burlesque show on Shabbat. Ya know? Maybe not. All I am sayin is, Stevie was kind not to force her political views on us. I appreciate that.

but that writing is just awful.

Obama '09!
She probably wrote McCain his own separate poem, which touched upon his time as a POW and was made complete with her dream of walking down the hall with Sarah Palin and Bristol's baby. Only, in Stevie's poem, the baby turned out to be a girl.

It was so great to see him there... he has always looked and reminded me of one of my Grandfathers (my mom's dad)... and then when they said he collasped, I got really concerned... And it was like 3 hours later after all of that happened, then I read Stevie's poem about 5pm... and thought of todays events... and thought Wow... yes, it's kind of surreal... I agree.

Over four months ago, Ted promised he would be there at the inauguration, but I didn't quite believe him. I didn't know if he could hold out.

Knowing Stevie, I am sure she must have written something when JFK, Jr. died. She should publish that. Michele
