Ok here is how she did with the judges:
RJ says it was like Karoke Paula Abdul says that it was good song and she really likes it. But it is so identified with Stevie Nicks and she IS an American Idol because she has such a distinctive voice. Yeah Paula! Simon says (LOL) I think he said it was OK.

I really have to agree with Paula's comment. The song is just so Stevie. I think Nikki did OK in the beginning but kind of fell apart in the middle.

I'm so glad Nikki did a Stevie song, but boy it's hard to do Edge justice. It WAS pretty kareoke. I want to like her so much because of her Stevie connection, but her voice just doesn't compare to Kelly's (or Justin's, though he's not my fav. either).
Anyway, good for Nikki for singing something she loves.

those watching, she did 'Black Velvet' and after the song, she said that in defense to their 1st comments, that she thought it was an honor to perform a Stevie Nicks song b/c Stevie is her idol....
I just think it is sooo cool that she has that Stevie vibe... ~Alex

I think it rocks that she is such a Stevie fan, etc......but that was a pretty kareoke version of Edge....my friend did a version of that one time, and I kept hearing it in the back of my mind....thats when I knew she wasn't doing the song justice....or at least what she COULD have done to it....I kept waiting for her to give it her own flair, or at least really TEAR into it.....but nope
 Oh well....hopefulyl she will be voted off this week.....if Kelly gets voted off, I am boycotting the show....she is the most talented by far vocally, so I think she should win....Justin does have the best stage presence though.Kristin

It SO figures...the one night i am not home to watch,and she does a Stevie song...i was driving home at like 9:30 and realized i was missing it and said to myself "I bet Nikki is gonna sing Rhiannon or something"...ugh...oh well..at least i didn't miss some stellar performance or something...

WOW....I know that is NOT what she meant...she was just trying to explain how she knew that she did a copycat version....but WOW.....when I heard that my jaw dropped. I don't think she sounds like her at all. I think she sounds JUST like the chick that sings that BLACK VELVET song....forgive me for not knowing who it is.

I agree Kristin. I really did not think she sounded like Stevie at all. The girl who sings "Black Velvet" is Alannah Myles. She is from Toronto, Canada.

She didn't do a bad job...not a great one, either. The problem is that Edge is such a Stevie signature song, that it's hard to compare.
She did a lot better with Black Velvet.

Nikki is no American Idol.
JMO, but she just didn't do that song justice. Whether she was trying to sound like Stevie or not, no one can sound like Stevie. She didn't come close. There was no feeling, no emotion, no kick. Paula was exactly right about this song.
I think Justin & Kelly were pretty good last night. Personally I favor Kelly, but with these power dialers dialing for Nikki, she'll probably end up winning. Lee

ok i just posted this on the chitchat board
i mean her voice was ok......but she didn't put anything into edge at all! to me, she didn't look comfortable singing that song! now black velvet was excellent! and you could tell that she was really into it and really wanted to sing that song! now if stevie is her idol and she had to pick a stevie nicks song, then y did she pick edge? y didn't she sing stand back? or.....or what? what is another song she could have sang? i think she picked the wrong song. but two thumbs up for stevie being her american idol!
 mimi  oh and i loved paula's comment!!! STEVIE IS AN AMERICAN IDOL!!!!!!
