Default My Christmas Hummingbird

So there is this little guy nesting just outside my balcony in the bamboo. He sure is a cutey. The little guy always buzzes right in front of me first thing in the morning. Not in a hostile way but more of a hello, life affirming little greeting. One time the rascal ate a little flying bug right in front of me. So much for a constant diet of nectar. Sneaky little meat eater.

He doesn't seem to mind my presence in the least. Sometimes we just stare at each other. We trust each other. I like him. I think I'll get him a feeder for Christmas. He deserves it.

My pleasure. Glad you appreciated it.

I'm off on a little trip, but will return next week. I promise to snap a real photo of him and post it here. I'm quite sure he's very photogenic. Bless his little (500bpm) heart!

That's so cool! My grandmother-in-law has a squirrel friend that visits her daily. I'm usually not much for small rodents, but this one's darn cute. She gives it a treat & it scampers away til tomorrow.

I am visited by too many birds to really count. The other night I saw an owl I have not seen in months.
On the other hand, I have an adorable skunk that I have named Dragtail. He lives under my porch and I see him almost every day.

It's pretty amazing when you get to see a hummingbird close up! I watched one sitting still on a branch for almost 5 minutes once - so long that I wasn't sure if it was ok, until it flew away. My boyfriend's mother had a hummingbird nest in her fig tree, right up against her living room window, and we were able to see the baby birds!
Last year, while working in the garden a hummingbird hovered inches for my face, checking me out. I suddenly felt afraid that he/she might be interested in my eyes, and I ducked away.
They seem to like the lantana and Morning glories we had in our backyard this Summer.
