The popularity topic always seems to come up for some reason. I don't think it matters. Possibly being a loudmouth (compulsive typer) could be misconstrued as popularity. And no I don't have anyone in mind as I say this I'm just making a point that I don't really think there is a popularity queue here.

Maybe it is true. There was an outpouring of sympathy and many could commiserate with his situation, and that is understandable though it was about as sudden as his 180. If we didn't think so already, that's evident in the comments from some Ledgies saying, "What happened? I missed that." It was just that quick. What we seen play out in such a short timespan is not uncommon but befudding as hell just the same, IMO. I think because of that it may be too early to make a judgment call. Whatever the case, I believe you didn't mean to make some "deep social commentary," as you said.

I think the responses to my remark show that some people take themselves way too seriously. I can't judge, however, because I am guilty of that myself sometimes. In spite of that, I will go ahead and say we all should lighten up. Not to the degree of Care Bears, but to the degree that we are able to laugh at ourselves.

I think very few people don't take themselves too seriously from time to time. JMO. But I'm inclined to add that this country's absolutely insane level of homophobia is enough to make someone not want to get out of bed in the morning, so I often point to that as a reason for reactions to certain comments here and there.

As for Jyqm's Care Bears comment, I just can't help that I found that so damn funny.
