Question Is Gift Of Screws still floating around anywhere?

Does anyone know where (or even if) the Gift Of Screws demos are still floating around the net anywhere? If so, can someone give me a nudge in the right direction?

After hearing that little snippet of I'm Waiting on the doc, I'm very very intrigued to hear them

Any help's appreciated

Hi there,

You can still find the tracks at http://gos.danne.org/~jan/

Unfortunately Lindsey's take on "I Am Waiting" hasn't yet leaked, as far as I know, but the rest are there and they sound terrific.

Bonus! Thanks much!!!

On a side note, it's good to be back...I used to lurk on these boards under "rollo" as my name, but I've since had enough computer problems to force me to have to reregister. Anyway, thanks again!

I remember Rollo too. But from way back from childhood days. Never thought he liked FM though...

Just kidding- welcome Rollison

I love the GOS songs! There were on Still Going Insane, but I can't find them there any more. I would LOVE to have a Lindsey solo cd. It makes me sad to think that he thought he had to release his material as a FM record in order to get it made and sell.

The lack of appreciate for Lindsey as an artist (also as a producer) pisses me off in general. Why the hell don't people realise that he is the genius behind much that they already love about FM?
YOU ROCK!! ITA!! I will never understand why people are DEAF to the greatest music ever made.

Because as brilliant as it is, it's not as viable. *Sighs* Again dipping into the never-ending convo critical versus commercial. Lindsey is genius, but the majority of people just don't like 'artistic' genius--possibilities scare them. You can't blame people for taste and I believe you've said it yourself? Something about 'dipping one's foot into the pool before jumping in'? It's accquired taste. Besides, it not being the 'in' thing makes it all the more desirable for you, doesn't it? As much as you believe Lindsey deserves credit and success you cling to the argument that he's a true artist, which, are few and far between nowadays...would you want just 'anybody' appreciating that kind of talent? ...Just a lil perspective

Very close to how I felt about Fleetwood Mac as a whole from 1967-1974...then came Lindsey & Stevie and the whole "fame & fortune" thing. Maybe that is a clue why I distain the Rumours lineup compared to other Mac incarnations...they took away the Fleetwood Mac as "my little cult band" status. As much as I would turn my friends on to Fleetwood Mac and want everybody I knew to be as into them as I was, all of a sudden yay-hoos in Bumf*ck knew about Fleetwood Mac. They just weren't all that "special" anymore.

For me, what matters is their music, not how many people do / do not enjoy them. For their sakes, however, I wish them as much commercial success as possible.

Arrow Alex...

It's just frustration for me. LOL Sure, I love having music secrets, but there's a part of me that wants uber-success for them because it seems that if you don't have success, you are made fun of and hated. Case in point: Justin Guarini. I won't go into that. Anywho, I LOVE that I have this "secret" in OOTC and Lindsey in general, but at the same time, my brain goes "WHY are people so STUPID!?!?"

Yep, I'm wierd.

Believe me, I feel the same way about a few things imparticular You relish the exclusivity and fault the stupidity because you see something so clear it should be common knowledge

Lil balanced advice though....as it's obvious you do, but still... Cherish the contradiction because Lindsey, himself, is just that The dichotomy is what makes it worth while.

Default well,

I don't care if he sells ( okay, for him it's nice) but I couldn't care less. I care about recognition: a lot of people who are into the alternative musiccircuit just don't count FM nor LB solo to the rock-canon. And that's my task in life: convince those buttheads
