Here's a Rolling Stone article from May 28, 1981 that I found. It discusses The Visitor

The article should now be accessible.

This was an old favorite of mine. Fred Schruers is the same guy who wrote the 1997 cover story (The Lovingest, Fightingest, Druggingest Band).
Mick was really ahead of his time, not just with the musical project itself but his own political attitudes of settling in a foreign country for six weeks and not stripping the native musicians of their resources or pride. In 1992, instead of making that bone-headed and rather dreadful cock-rock album with the guy from Australia, Mick should have returned to Ghana for a second album and concert. Maybe track down the kids who played in 1981 (who would have been young adults by then).

The original idea had been to follow up The Visitor with a Brazilian project. George Hawkins would go to Rio with me, and we'd record with the cream of Brazilian musicians. To this end we bought a portable studio, which we instead set up at the Blue Whale when the South American project was scrapped. Then I got a little band together, with George on bass, Steve Ross (a friend of Richard's) on guitar, and Billy Burnette doing the vocals.
