Default Alabama and Buckingham Nicks

It is well known that Birmingham, Alabama had a special love for Buckingham Nicks. Alabama is often treated with a kind of eyeroll attitude. Well, I'm from Alabama and I get that eyeroll all the time. Just a tidbit to maybe help you understand a little more of what Alabama is REALLY like versus what the media and Hollywood types would have people believe. Check it out, it is a short article and I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

You know there's a song about coming in to the water. It's very sexy, but I don't know who sings it. I thought it was Sugarland, but it may have come out before they hit it big. I always wondered who sang that.

That's interesting. I've never listened to Sugarland but I'll see if I can find it.

Hey, thanks for that. I haven't found that song yet but I found this video and it is freaking hilarious. I think I'm a new fan of Sugarland. LOL

I'm from Georgia and I live an hour from the Bama line. It really is a nice and pretty state.

We're neighbors! A friend and I are thinking about going to see the June 10th show in Atlanta. I just can't decide if I want to pay that much for tickets. Whew, they are high this time and I usually go to Nashville to see them. Unfortunately there are no shows scheduled for there (yet). Plus, the Atlanta show is on a work night for me so I just don't know.

Oh, that's ok. I think maybe it wasn't Sugarland. When I was trying to find the artist, I looked at Sugarland because it just reminded me of them. It was kind of sultry. The lyrics were like, "come on in, the water's fine." But you know how it is, every time you hear something you like, the DJ never tells you who the performer is.

Funny that you used that phrase, "come on in, the water's fine." It's funny because my comment was a well-worn paraphrase of a line in Bette Midler's The Rose (When a Man Loves a Woman monologue) which says, "dive right in, baby, the water is fine". LOL

Oooh I like that one. It is so funny, you can't even tell that he's from Australia - he does the accent so well.

K.U.'s music, even his first album release, which is NOT country, had a great rock sound to it.

Btw, He was born in New Zealand

and there's your full circle and LB connection - KU cites LB as one of his biggest guitar influences.

Yes, I think the derivation of the phrase goes even farther back than The Rose, but it's just funny because I'd been wracking my brain trying to find lyrics that would lead me to the song I wanted and your terminology was right in line with my search terms. It's like you were in my brain.
