What do you think are the top 10 most iconic Mac songs? Not necessarily your favorite songs, but the ones that made a strong impact on the public and are, in various ways, part of the popular imagination? Songs, too, that are emblematic of the eras when they were originally released...
Here's my list: 1. The Chain 2. Oh Well 3. Tusk 4. Go Your Own Way 5. Hypnotized 6. Rhiannon 7. Don't Stop 8. Little Lies 9. Future Games 10. Albatross Honorable Mention: Station Man |

When I was a non-fan, I knew GYOW, Rhiannon and Don't Stop were Fleetwood Mac songs (the other songs I knew, but I didn't know who sang them). Actually GYOW was the only song I owned by them for a long time, since it was on the Forrest Gump soundtrack that was reissued in the early 2000s. GYOW is also their only song in the R&R Hall of Fame's top 500 songs, as well as Rolling Stone's newest top 500. Random info I found out when I started getting into the band.
1. Go Your Own Way 2. Don't Stop 3. Rhiannon 4. Little Lies 5. Dreams 6. Landslide 7. The Chain 8. Say You Love Me 9. Over My Head 10. Tusk |

Surprised nobody's yet put Big Love, actually. Maybe it's just a UK thing.
No real order: Go Your Own Way Don't Stop Little Lies Everywhere Landslide Dreams Rhiannon Gypsy Songbird Big Love Is The Chain really in the general popular consciousness all that much? It's a clear fan-favourite, but beyond that I'm not so sure. It did feel sad/weird leaving it out though |

I think in UK The Chain is iconic because of its association with Formula One. I'd say it has quite wide appeal and influence. I probably ought to have included Rhiannon but I didn't have room.

My list is based on what I hear causal fans mention most often and what I knew about before I became a hardcore FM fan.

I just thought I'd throw my list out there, including all era's. This is based on the fact that I'm still a relatively new FM fan and when I started listening to them I had a discussion with a friend about how I've never known a band to have so many hits/well known songs but never knew they were all FM songs.
The list is in a loose order and also based on being located in the UK: 1. Little Lies 2. Don't Stop 3. Everywhere 4. Albatross 5. Dreams 6. The Chain (At least the Bass/Outro because of Formula 1) 7. Oh Well 8. Songbird 9. Black Magic Woman 10. Gypsy Last edited by TheGreenBlues; 05-16-2013 at 09:18 AM.. |

Just personal opinion but before I started listening to FM I had never heard of GYOW before, I had heard of Songbird. My list is based off FM songs I have heard on commercials or on the radio over the years albeit without realising who the songs belonged to.

I feel like GYOW is one of those songs everybody knows whether they realize they know it or not. You start singing it, and they recognize it. At least 'round these parts.

Wow, without reading all the responses here; I think this more of a generational Q than anything....leading to it is all questionable. Considering I was only 2yo in 1977 I would of course list hits like Little Lies and Gypsy among the top....but....is that a subjective opinion? Of course it is.
With that, The list should include: Oh Well Albatross Sentimental Lady Why (or) Spare Me Rhiannon Say You Love Me Go Your Own Way Dreams Tusk Don't Stop/Landslide (ugg, I hate to list either of these songs) |
