Gypsy Alert (Relocated Thread)

They just issued a Gypsy Alert on the news. Never heard of such a thing, but I immediately thought of Stevie. Lol. Apparently, there are gypsies coming into peoples houses & taking jewelry, etc. They said to keep your doors locked, especially if you're out working in your yard. Weird.

I had a teacher in high school who told us a story once about the town she grew up in, and how gypsies came into town once and set up camp. They would travel in groups all the time, and the local shopkeepers were especially upset about their presence...but they were right outside of the town limits and no one could really do anything since they weren't actually caught stealing while in the town limits.

This also reminds me of the gypsies in Chocolate that are camped by the river, back when Johhny Depp actually acted instead of just being his weird self on camera.

That's EXACTLY what popped in my head when they said it. They broke into regular programming to alert people, so I was like WTF? It must be serious. LOL

It's kind of cool how that term is still being used. As is "pirate". Wasn't there something a while ago about how pirates were in the Carribean somewhere and actually hi-jacking ships?
