Default Another Experiment for a Better Say You Will album!

Okay,

So I decided to try and throw Christine back into Say You Will. This time, looking at all of her songs from both Time and In The Meantime.

Here is what I came up with.

1. You Are
2. What's The World Coming To?
3. Thrown Down
4. Steal Your Heart Away
5. Sooner or Later
6. Silver Girl
7. Say You Will
8. Peacekeeper
9. Nights In Estoril
10. Murrow Turning Over In His Grave
11. Miranda
12. Goodbye Baby
13. Friend
14. Everybody Finds Out
15. Destiny Rules
16. Come
17. Bad Journey
18. All Over Again

Thoughts?

I like SYW as it is. I think it's an excellent album.

Yes, but I was going by the premise that Christine would be on SYW. Hence why I added her songs!

This idea's been explored a few times in previous Rumours-era threads. You might want to check them out. I agree with you, btw: take the weakest six songs from SYW and swap in the strongest six from ITM and you have, well, something close to magic--a hint of what might've been.

But then I like SYW and ITM as they are, too...

You'd cut out Running Through The Garden but keep Silver Girl? MADNESS

I haven't really listened to Time. So I can't comment on Christine's songs on that album... however, if I was to make a dream Say You Will, with Stevie and Lindsey songs from that album, and Christine songs from ITM, I'd pick

Stevie :

Thrown Down
Illume
Running Through The Garden
Everybody Finds Out
Goodbye Baby

Lindsey :

Red Rover
Miranda
Come
Steal Your Heart Away
Bleed To Love Her

Christine :

Liar
Friend
Bad Journey
Calumny
Easy Come, Easy Go

I actually found the Christine songs from ITM the hardest to cut down on that surprised me.

You ditched Running Through The Garden and kept Silver Girl? WTF. The firing squad behind my shed awaits you along with the other 3 Ledgies I've placed there.

I'd do the same thing. RTTG is right there with "The Second Time" & "Welcome To The Room...Sara" as "WORST STEVIE NICKS SONG OF ALL-TIME". Not saying "Silver Girl" is ALL that much better, but it is.

I like those songs. I don't love them, but I do like them.

I like RTTG as a song but it's a bit strange, John and Lindsey's playing is kind of unlike them, Lindsey especially with that widdly tapping nonsense at the end... love SYW as an album too, though I tend to think of it as Buckingham Nicks II. On that note, Twisted in place of Silver Girl anyone?

Why surprised? It's a great little album. If I had to choose six songs to insert into SYW, I'd choose

Friend (acoustic--my favorite)
You Are
Anything is Possible
Forgiveness
Bad Journey or Liar
Giving it Back

With the exception of Giving it Back, I could imagine some recasting of these songs to fit the SYW sound, a sound Christine would have helped shape. I don't think Lindsey would have let that godawful simile from You Are fly, either: "The touch of your hand is like a blind man who now can see." Awful! Truly awful!

The six songs from Lindsey:

Peacekeeper
Murrow
Miranda
Bleed to Love Her
Steal Your Heart Away
Goodbye (my favorite)

The Six from Stevie:

Illume
Throw Down
Say You Will
Destiny Rules
Everybody Finds Out (my favorite!)
Smile at You

Ok, inspired by this thread, I've been messin' about on my iPod with Say You Will tracking order Playlists (and plugging in some other tunes from the same era)....here's what I came up with as my "Ultimate Say You Will" album:

Say You Will (gotta have the title cut the opening track, right?)
Bleed To Love Her
Smile At You
Try For The Sun
Destiny Rules
The Right Place To Fade
What's The World Coming To?
Illume
Murrow Turning Over In His Grave
Everybody Finds Out
Peacekeeper
Thrown Down
Steal Your Heart Away
Not Make Believe
Down On Rodeo
Goodbye Baby
