I think you're a little behind the times.. there have been a couple threads talking about the new website.

Maybe they'll actually update the 'new website' soon.

Looks like just pure (& basic) marketing.

Readers aren't so corrupt -- are they? -- as to be overjoyed by a marketing tool?

I don't think I'd use the word "corrupt," exactly, but of course they are... I'm a pretty jaded chick, but I work in 'net marketing, and sometimes even I am blown away by the stuff people will buy into.

Have they done anything to it since 2004?

You know what would be great? If they made live recordings of each live show available on their website, like Pearl Jam & Metallica do. Would you pay $10 or even $20 for really good quality audio of the show you went to?

I would. There was enough trading happening with the SYW tour that I'll bet alot of people would.
