Exclamation Penguin Discography Contest: Creative Ledgies, it’s your chance to shine!

Hi all,

Marty has been working tirelessly for months now, revamping the Penguin’s Discography. A lot of work has gone into this overhaul (creating and modifying new scripts, fixing bugs, etc.), so that everything will be just right.
A small group of dedicated Ledgies are currently hard-at-work helping Marty update and complete the content for each of the entries, and what we need now are graphics, graphics, graphics!

This is where YOU come in, and is the basis for our contest.

We’re looking for creative graphics for EVERY artist included in the Discography. This means that, not only are we looking for graphics for Fleetwood Mac and its members’ solo careers, but also the several hundred artists who have worked with them.
These include fan-favorites such as Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, Walter Egan, Bonnie Raitt, John Stewart, B.B. King, Don Henley, and MANY more!

We’ll most likely get many submissions for Fleetwood Mac’s most popular members, so make sure to branch out! Be creative with your artist choices.

Ledgies submitting five (5) graphics will have the opportunity to view the new Discography pages (and their own handiwork on those pages) before the official re-launch.

Marty and I will be choosing the best ten (10) to then be entered into the main contest, in which ALL Ledgies will have the chance to vote on their favorite submissions.
  • 1st-Place Grand Prize Winner will receive: A set of Seventy-Nine photos (Forty-Two 8x10s and Thirty-Six 5x7s) from the old Penguin Photo Gallery, plus a copy of former Mac member Bob Brunning's book, 'Fleetwood Mac: The First 30 Years.' This 1998 second-edition version is now out of print.
  • 2nd-Place Winner will receive: Twenty-Five Penguin Gallery photos (Fifteen 8x10s & Ten 5x7s), plus a copy of 'Fleetwood Mac: The First 30 Years.'
  • 3rd-Place Winner will receive: Fifteen Penguin Gallery photos (Ten 8x10s & Five 5x7s).

Everyone whose graphic is used, will receive credit within the discography.

GUIDELINES:
(We have a few simple guidelines, in order to ensure that the graphics are unifom on each of the pages and that proper credit is given.)
  • When possible, it is preferred that you use photographs that were taken by you personally. We realize this isn't possible 100% of the time though, but we still want to make absolutely sure... to the best of our ability... that credit is given to the original photographer or source (ie: Rolling Stone magazine, etc.).
So please make note of this information for the graphic(s) you submit.
  • Your graphics must be submitted in a rectangular shape -- no larger than 190x370 pixels in size.
Or, if you’d like, you can use the PhotoShop template Marty has has already prepared, here.
Using the template will allow you the ability to experiment a little with the layering effects that you can see in the examples attached to the bottom of this post.
The only requirement there, is that you leave the outside frame intact (staying within the aforementioned size limit).

ARTISTS IN THE DISCOGRAPHY:
(Remember to be creative with your artist choice(s)... we have a LOT to choose from!)
  • A full and current listing of the over 600 artists found in the discography, can be located here.

SUBMISSIONS:
  • All submissions should be posted as attachments within this thread, by no later than September 15th, 2004.
  • When submitting your graphics to this thread, please also include your name as you'd like it to appear in the discography. In parenthesis next to your name, please also list the photographer and/or the source for the photograph.
Example: Johnny Stew (Herbert Worthington III, Rolling Stone)

So get those creative juices flowing, and have fun!

Well, darling, you don't have to twist my arm to get me to make a Bette Midler graphic for y'all, but what in the hell does that mean?

I'm ignorant when it comes to this PhotoShop jargon. Does it just mean that I have to say within the restricted space?

The rounded border needs to stay there, basically.

Does that include the blinds layer?

Greg is correct... the rounded border on the very outside of the frame, must remain intact.

Your image can spill over into the blinds layer (the "greyish" one you can see in the examples), just so long as it doesn't go beyond the edge of the outside frame.

If anyone is unfamiliar with PhotoShop, all you need do is submit a rectangular graphic, no bigger than 190x370 pixels (keeping in mind to alot for a little room on the right-hand side for that blinds layer)... and I'll put it into the template for you.

I completely forgot about this thread.

The Stevie photo is from the Nicksfix, the Lindsey and Mick ones were taken by myself (Kate S), the Chris one is from christinemcvie.com, and the Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Stan Lynch, Benmont Tench and Ron Blair ones were found on various websites. I'm sorry that I don't have any specific URLs.

Here's the first batch.

Hi Juan... I got a little behind on things.
I haven't forgotten though, and I'm sure Marty and I will be picking finalists very soon.

Sorry for the delay, and thanks for your patience.
