Can anybody point me out to a link that shows sales figures for all of FM's albums? I'm gonna look around but if somebody else could beat me to it to shorten my search, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Eric-
I am at home so I don't have access to db, so these are from memory, but they are pretty close. With the Exception of Say You Will these numbers are from March 2003. Rumours Era US sales: First 7 in millions Rumours 19.5 Greatest Hits 9.1 The Dance 5.6 Fleetwood Mac 5.4 Tango in the Night 3.2 Tusk 2.7 Mirage 2.5 Say You Will 770,000 Behind the Mask 650,000 Live 450,000 Very Best of 420,000 Time 26,000 Kiln House is the only Pre Rumours Era album to cell more than 500k. It has sold about 1.1 |

When you look at it this way, Say You Will appears to be doing pretty darn good. Maybe it's just seeing in a list with these top selling albums.

KILN HOUSE is not the only pre-Rumours era album to sell more than 500,000. FUTURE GAMES, MYSTERY TO ME and BARE TREES are certified gold by the RIAA (for sales in excess of 500,000).
Check out http://www.riaa.com SAY YOU WILL is doing extremely well. Why does everyone think it is not?? 770,000 copies is nothing to sneeze at, and it appears very likely that it will be certified platinum by year's end (pending strong Thanksgiving/Christmas shopping sales). However, VERY BEST OF FM was certified platinum by the RIAA back in January, so wouldn't that mean it sold more than 1 million copies?? (This list is saying it has sales of only 420,000.) But perhaps double albums are counted differently. Last edited by MacFan03; 09-01-2003 at 01:58 PM.. |

The RIAA certifications are only units shipped, not units sold. So I think those totals are all a little lower as far as actually records sold goes. Bare Trees has been certified platinum and both Future Games and Mystery To Me have been certified gold. I have no idea how many copies have actually been sold.

These numbers are for US sales only. Tusk, for instance, has sold more than 4 million worldwide.
And, yes, Say You Will will likely sell about 2 million by next spring. That is, if the album gets some Grammy nominations. |

Multi-disc sets would be counted twice if one is sold. So if the riaa certifies a cd as platinum and it's a double cd, then it probably had sales at or near 500,000 in total.

Yeah, macfan57 and Carnevaca are right respectively in that the figures on FG, BT & MTM are higher and the last I heard BTM sold 800,000 in the US and 2 million worldwide (if that's of any help to the one asking about these things).

TANGO IN THE NIGHT has sold at least 8 million copies. (WW?)
It was the second biggest selling FM album next to Rumours up until that time (1987). Last edited by 4Buck; 09-01-2003 at 06:49 PM.. |

Does anyone have the worldwide figures to FM (and CM, LB, and SN solo as well)? I would love to see them!

Meant to write 1,000,000 about Kiln House-Sorry.
I will check Wednesday again, but Behind the Mask I am pretty darn sure was in the 650k range. Typo/brain freeze on Very Best of. Should be 620,000. Yes, it is 2x for a double. These are US sales only. Worldwide sales are very difficult to get a definitive number on. |

There must be a body that keeps track of these numbers on a world wide basis otherwise how the heck does anyone know what they've sold. Maybe the Warners branches in each country goes through the painstaking task of adding up there own country.
