Cool The Dance DVD

Hi there,

Yesterday I was at the mall and I got a chance to check out the price of The Dance DVD. I'm interested in purchasing it in my quest to become a FM nut

Anyways, i went to two different stores and the DVD was about 30 dollars Canadian.

I'm curious what those of you who have the DVD paid for it. If you'd like to help me out would you please tell me where and when you got it, how much you paid, and what country you bought it in.

Also, I was looking at the FM CDs. They didn't have a very good selection, but I did see 'The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac'. Do you guys recomend it for a greatest hits compilation? It looked pretty good. Much better than 'Greatest Hits' from the 80s.

Thanks a lot.

The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac-- this is an *excellent* compliation. Of course, we all have suggestions about what should have been added (*cough*Angel*cough*) but it is a good collection (at least for the "Rumours" lineup). If you're looking for Pre-Rumours stuff, you should try to find "25 Years: The Chain" which was released in 1992. It was 4 CDs but that is out of print. The 2 CD set is still available.

The Dance DVD is amazing. I love it. This is another can't lose purchase-- I bought mine for $19.99 American dollars at Best Buy. "Silver Springs" is like my favorite 5 minutes in my entire DVD collection.

Hi Sarah! I know here in the US the DVD costs about $20-23 dollars most everywhere you go- I'm not sure what that converts to in Canadian $, but The Dance DVD is a MUST That really is the best version of Gold Dust Woman EVER, why did they leave it off the cd???(maybe THAT is the worst decision in the history of pop music. lol)

Yes, the very best of is a GREAT compalation, it is much better than the 80's cd. Besides, I would wait until the reissues of FM, Rumours, and Tusk come out (if you don't already have them) to buy those- because there are some "essential" (IMO) songs from those not on the VB0 (after all, they couldn't put every song ever recorded on it!) such as Blue Letter, Beautiful Child, Angel, Oh Daddy, and Crystal.

I'd like to get the reissues of Tusk and FM too. Are they not currently available?

Merf there's 1 track from Penguin, 1 from Future Games, 1 from Bare Trees, 1 from Kiln House, 2 from Mystery To Me, and 2 from Heroes Are Hard to find. The assortment of Green-era stuff is even more scant. It's sad too as there's lots of incredible songs from this era that are worlds better than some of the songs from Tusk (more than half of that albums songs are represented) and just as good as some from Rumours (where 9 of 11 songs are represented plus Silver Springs) and CERTAINLY better than some of the less than stellar Mirage stuff they included. I'd hardly call that a good place to start for older stuff. Actually I haven't really seen a compilation that's friendly to the Welch era, which is a major shame.

But the Very Best Of has a lot of great songs on it, and if you buy that plus the Dance DVD you'll never even have to purchase Rumours. My boss at work burned a copy of all their hits and brought it into work, and that was more than enough to make me want to start investigating.

As far as The Dance, back in '97 it got at least 4 million new fans into the band so I'm sure you won't regret your purchase. It's a good concert and the new (at the time) Christine McVie song on it is great. You'll get really irritated with Lindsey Buckingham sometimes but overall it's a pretty good show.

IF I was picking a list here is what I would get:

1) The Dance DVD
2) Very Best of Fleetwood Mac
3) Say You Will
4) Tusk
5) Rumours

That should get you started. Should you really get into the band, go back and buy everything you can get your hands on.

Since I last checked The Dance VHS is pretty cheap on E-bay, not too sure about the DVD. I only have the VHS, that's what the majority of my collection is. I've had that thing for a good 5 1/2 years, it's getting worn, lol. The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac is an amazing compilation, but I thought that they could have included some pre- Buckingham/Nicks stuff, like Oh Well, Hypnotized, Spare Me a Little, etc... But, that's IMAO. The Chain 2 CD set is a good one as well, but I don't know if it's just my copy or not, but it won't play in a computer CD player. Hope that helps!

I thought the highlight of this DVD was Buckingham!!! I was told by a friend to pick up this show and check out his AMAZING guitar playing......... Pickless guitar playing........ I was in awe of Buck after seeing and hearing for the first time his acoustic version of BIG LOVE and GO INSANE. He sings them so soulfully--and he's SEXY!!! ..........................His banjo picking on SAY YOU LOVE ME is beyond par. ....Nicks and Buckingham's interaction on LANDSLIDE and SILVER SPRINGS is awesome, with beautiful vocals by Nicks on both.

I started out with the video but bought the dvd after I got my dvd player last year. I think I paid about $20 and that was at Target!

Also - has anyone else who has both the vhs and dvd noticed that the dvd is a different mix? It's like the background vocals are relegated way to the back or something.
