My parents just told me they had dinner last night with a couple where they live near Philly. My mom mentioned that she loved the Philly show in May, and the wife asked "Are you sure it was Stevie Nicks?" My mom looked at her like she was crazy. Apparently this couple and a large group of friends were planning to see the Philly show, but the box office wouldn't guarantee that Stevie Nicks would be appearing with FM. (This sounds reasonable, as how could a box office guarantee that kind of thing?) However, and you won't believe this, the group called back later and asked again if Stevie would be appearing at the Philly show, and THIS time the person at the box office was pretty mixed up, because he said that Stevie would definitely NOT be appearing with FM and that the band had replaced her with...Melissa Manchester.
I am NOT making this up. This couple left dinner last night feeling pretty pissed that they skipped the concert, though obviously they're not die-hard fans if they're far enough outside the loop to believe a guy at the box office who was either drunk, confused about Christine's absence, or just messing with them. Can you imagine Lindsey rocking out to Walk On By or Mick doing a drum solo during You Should Hear How She Talks About You? Or worse, MM attempting Gold Dust Woman or Rhiannon. - Jake

OMG that is just freakin' nuts! Makes you wonder exactly what that guy was thinking, though, since there IS the "Whenever I Call You Friend" connection.

I didn't even think of that connection until you mentioned the song, Sugar. Also, idn't MM beat out Stevie for a Grammy in 1981, or was it already Pat Benatar that year?
I think you can take anybody in the music business & play 6 degrees from Stevie Nicks. Really, it works with anybody when it comes to her. (How convenient that you can take someone like Beethoven & connect him to Stevie in one of her past lives. )- Jake
