I think this will be Stevie's first Christmas and Thanksgiving without her mother. That will be very hard for Stevie—a big prayer for Stevie and her loved ones... I know how bad that is. Uggg.

I agree!! Thanksgiving and Christmas still suck for me and it's been 9 years since my mom passed..

I feel the pain for Stevie and her brother.,This year will be my first holiday with out both of my parents .I lost my dad back in February it will be lonely.

my father and my mother have passed, it's sort of a patchwork holiday season this year, I definitely feel you.

And it was only a few days after Christmas when Stevie's mom died, wasn't it? I imagine that will make it extra hard, being both the holidays and the first anniversary of her death. I just went through the first anniversary of my dad's death, and this will be my second Thanksgiving/Christmas without him...it's tough, I hope her family is able to find some peace and focus on the good things this season.

My dad had a stroke and languished for 3 1/2 months before he died and the year after every single day I would mark the anniversary of something sad, "One year ago they did the craniotomy. One year ago he transferred for rehab. One year ago the feeding tube broke . . ." until I got to the anniversary of his death. Lots of little deaths leading up to it.

Since Stevie keeps a diary I suppose she's even more apt to look back like that. But they didn't seem to know it was as serious as it was. Unlike her father's passing, her mother's took her by surprise. They knew she was ill, but didn't think it fatal. That is good in way, because your last days with them were not mournful ones that way.

On Feb 18 of this year .I lost my dad from prostrate cancer and lucky he got 17 years out of his life after he found out about it.My moms was a shocker when her gall bladder burst and infected her intestines which she had 85 percent removed due to the infection.We almost lost her on the operating table .She was slowly recovered from it and had a chance to celebrate her 77th birthday on Dec 7 -2008 and Christmas .In the middle of January her liver went bad and she went until February 10-2009.

Me and my sister were luck to had her alive 4 months after the operation to give her TLC and say goodbye.
