I know I'm gonna stir up some s**t with this post, but something's been frustrating me for a very long time. Namely, the way the entire Fleetwood Mac fanbase seems to be fragmented into six or seven warring factions. I try to be open minded, but god, I'm getting annoyed with the crap. I've identifed the eight major "cults" and listed why they annoy me. If you're offended, well, too bad!
Greenies: Relentlessly super high-and-mighty, extreme superiority complex, constantly bashes all other lineups. Chiffonheads: Extremely defensive, lashes out at everyone who disagrees with themselves, bordering on being a personality cult. Buckyheads: "Oh, he's the ultimate genius! Everything he does is absolutely amazing, Fleetwood Mac would be lost without him, he produces and arranges everything they do!" ad nausem. Sugar Daddies: Consistently snooty and uptight, tells everyone to stop being fanboys and girls even when they themselves are. Peter Who? Pretends that Fleetwood Mac only existed from 1975 to 1987 and 1997 to the present. Hangars-On: Criticizes every single bowel Fleetwood Mac has performed since 1982, but calls themselves fans anyway. General fanboy/fangirl: Loves everything Fleetwood Mac has ever done , but won't admit that they've done some bad songs in the past. Usually spastic. SortaSavageLike: Seems like a pretty average fan, but borderline schizophrenic. What's with the 2,000 word reviews and the boob jokes? |

LASHES OUT?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN LASHES OUT!?!?!?? I'LL RIP YOUR HEAD OFF WITH MY SHAWL!!!!
*cough* Actually, I don't think I fit into any of those groups. I'm fairly neutral when it comes to FM now. |

those dreaded chiffonheads...Their 'devotion' is very akin to those Trekkers of Star Trek fandom.

I read through the entire thread before responding to this, so I did see your post explaining that the above statement was meant in jest - and I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and believe that you aren't just saying that to cover your ass - but I'd like to ask that, in the future, you refrain from doing this again. You say that JohnnyStew "knows you" and therefore should know that you didn't mean any harm (although he was still obviously unsure) but I don't know you and you gave no indication in that post that you meant it as a joke. Now, I like to think that I have a good sense of humor and a pretty thick skin, but it is very very easy for things to be misinterpreted on a messageboard and my initial reaction was not this: ![]() Last edited by Miss Vicky; 07-31-2006 at 10:41 PM.. |

. Stevie's my favorite, but I'm not a chiffonhead. I enjoy pre-and post-BN FM, I know who Peter Green is, and I like SortaSavageLike So what am I?? My god, someone better tell me before I have an identity crisis! |

Yeah, I dunno. I used to have bursts of extreme fan-ness for Stevie or Chris, but not so much anymore. |
