Default Do you associate Stevie's music with anything in particular?

This has now become a slightly amusing problem for me, so I thought I'd ask you all if you ever associate Stevie's music with anything. I'm the kind of person where if I hear a song on an eventful day, that particular song and that day will be burned into my mind for a long time. It's kind of weird.

So anyway, a few weeks ago, my mother-in-law was here visiting and asked to hear some Stevie music since she knows I'm a big fan. I played "Rooms on Fire" for her. Mother-in-law doesn't know this, but I find her quite abrasive and irritating. I should've seen it coming, but ever since I played that song for her, I can't listen to it and not think of MIL! In fact, she was asking about Stevie quite a bit, and now I find when I look at my Stevie CDs or something, somehow a memory of MIL worms its way into my brain.

Will Stevie and MIL always be linked in my brain? It's kind of frightening!!

most likely, yes

i have that same problem as well... there's really nothing you can do to stop it.. only time perhaps will make you forget about it and not relate her to Stevie...

What did your MIL think of the song?

Yup, I think I'm going to have to get used to this for awhile. And when I think that the Cranberries' "Dreams" has always reminded me of an important event of my life for the last 9 years now, that is really frightening.

She paused to listen to it for a bit, said she liked it (which is something she'll say about anything) and then went on to brag about her baby (my husband). I'm not sure how it really went over...

But now I could kick myself for playing it for her! I should've played "Too Far From Texas!"

LOL, well, she also likes the same Andrea Bocelli album that she's been playing for years. It hasn't left their CD player!

Alot of times either listening to FM or SN, it takes me back to the early years of me first discovering them... The one track for sure - Second Hand News... I still remember the day I first heard the song and what I was doing and who I was with.. Seems, really, like just a few years ago That was probably back in 1978 or so... It's weird! And some of Stevie's early stuff reminds me of the early 80's and what I was doing.. Certain songs like EO17 remind me of a certain girl that hung out in our group in the early 80's... she used to play the **** out of this track on her boom box... 25 years ago, I'm still listening... Wonder what they are listening to??
