random questions

I've been thinking about all the questions I have for everyone for months now. At the moment, I can't remember all of them (as I never can and that always stops me from starting this very thread), but here are some and I might add to this thread later on. I didn't know where else to put it besides in this forum.

1) Has anyone read any articles that have given some insight into what Peter Green thinks about the incarnations of FM that came after him?

2) How does one obtain these much-talked-about Tusk documentaries?

3) About Bob Welch's "Forever." I love this song, though I know I'm one of the few. Does anyone know if he has ever said anything about it at all? Why he wrote it or anything?

4) Why is "Not that Funny" so much like "I Know I'm Not Wrong" but not nearly as good? The similarities are just too much to me. Why didn't he call "Not that Funny" "I Know I'm Not Wrong Part 2" or something? I suppose these are rhetorical questions.

5) Where is Erica? I haven't seen her post in awhile. Just wondering.

6) Is "Oh Diane" supposed to be about someone? I'm not mocking it by asking that; I really like the song a lot. Was there some inspiration for it?

Okay, that's all I've got right now.

I plugged in an eBay search thing, and everytime one came up on auction, I did my best... Finally, a very generous fellow poster from another board made me copies of her doc and her outtakes. It DOES come up on eBay pretty often - beware of copies of copies. The original exists, and you can get it every so often.

I bought an original BETA off Ebay. I thought it was VHS, and I got it and was like what the hell is this little tape?! I finally found someone to transfer it for me. You can get originals on Ebay, and sometimes even Amazon, but are probably better off getting it from a trader who has it on DVD. It's good stuff...I highly recomend it!

Okay, that's all I've got right now.

1) Read his Q&A on this website. Overall, he seems to have nice things to say about the band. He and Jeremy both said they liked Stevie and Bekka.

2) EBay or trades. I got a CED copy of, so I had to buy a CED player. But, then, I also got Bob Welch & Friend "Live From The Roxy," the "Mirage" concert, and "Let It Be" on CED, so it was worth it. Unfortunately, I'm getting a lot of skipping, so these are just to satisfy my own curiousity.

3) The only thing I know about "Forever" is that they used a drum machine. If I'm not mistaken, he addressed this on his first epic Q&A on this very website.

4) There is an interesting theory that all of Lindsey's songs on "Tusk" are sort of a progression. On NTF, it's as if he feels everybody is blaming him for something, and his "don't blame me" is akin to "get off my back already." But, on IKINW, Lindsey sounds like he's more confident, "don't blame me...I know I'm not wrong," as in "hey, it's not MY fault." I want to say it was one of the Davids who came up with this theory. Makes sense to me.

5) I don't know.

6) I think Diana was a girlfriend of Lindsey's in the late 70s/early 80s.

I doubt Peter & Jeremy could name, or even recognize, five songs by Stevie Nicks -- which is just about the number she could name of theirs!

"Forever" is a lovely tune. People talk a lot about Christine's being a "rhythm" player, but they don't seem to know what they themselves mean. But the piano arrangement in "Forever" is a perfect example of that -- it's a bass-like part that helps lay rhythmic foundations.

Not me -- I almost never play these intentional fallacy games with lyrics. But certainly those songs are similar in lyrical content; the elliptical, almost paratactic approach in the orchestration; the cards-on-the-table attitude; & the low-period rupture of the performance.

I agree here. Always loved "forever". But this time epecially because of Johns' parts.

I'm a guitar player, not a bass player, but ANYtime I pick up a bass, that's the bass lick I play. And I always hear, "what song is that?"

It is, but it's completely understandable. Stevie and Lindsey were more focused on getting their material out there early on, and Peter and Jeremy were both in bad places during the "Rumours" Mac's heyday. Such is life. Although, it has to be said that Jeremy's kids have a band that covers "Rhiannon," so who knows.

Well, I can understand that, but if I were any of them, I would've taken the time to buy those records and listen to them at some point. I think it's of importance to anyone who was once in the band. At the time of Rumours heyday, Peter and Jeremy may not have been in the position to be kicking back to "Gold Dust Woman," but they could've caught up later on. It's been quite a few years.

I had thought about Stevie listening to all the older Mac albums when she and Lindsey were offered jobs with the band, but it occurred to me that she might have listened just for that purpose and then never picked them up again. I've done things like that when I had to educate myself on something quickly but I didn't genuinely care about it for any other purposes. But I could be totally wrong; it's just an idea about what may have happened.

Peter?...yeah, somewhat, I guess...but, those times WERE when he made his first comeback with a string of albums (In The Skies, Little Dreamer, etc) before going off the deep end again. He WAS hanging around with Mick & Fleetwood Mac for a while during the recording of Tusk (hence his appearance on "Brown Eyes"). And, don't forget that Mick negotiated a contract with WB/Reprise for Peter at that time, although Peter balked at it and not to much later signed with PVK.

Jeremy? I'm not so sure about his being "in a bad place" then. He seemed and seems VERY comfortable with his "Children Of God"-ness. He's never been in an insane asylum or been "committed" or had any mental health issues. He hasn't ever really STOPPED playing music or had to re-learn how to play guitar or anything. Unfortunately, he's perceived to have mental issues due to his spur-of-the-moment disappearance leading to his departure from Fleetwood Mac. In retrospect, it appears that his "bad place" was being IN Fleetwood Mac to begin with.

Hmmmm, actually, I give Stevie the benefit of the doubt here. Especially considering that when they were offered the Fleetwood Mac gig back in '75, she went out & bought all FMac's back catalogue of albums and, as she said, "listened to them back to front".

Also, I think Jeremy could, since side 2 of his Flee album is, for all intents, a Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac parody.

Now, Peter, I'll give you that he barely knows about BOB WELCH, much less Buckingham & Nicks.

AND his own kids decided to cover one of Ms. Nick's Fleetwood MAc songs and not their dad's, so I take it Jeremy know quite a bit of Stevie's and Lindsey's.

I don't know...there's a lot of music I know that my Dad doesn't know.
