Default Is For What It's Worth a single?

Sorry if this was already posted, I just noticed this link on Janis Joplin's fb page that says FWIW is the new single, doesn't look very official though:

Unfortunately this song will go down in history as a virtually unplayed second single - just like "Two Kinds of Love", "Blue Denim" and "Skies the Limit. So sad.

Thats why I loved experiencing TISL in its day - not only were 3 singles released, all charted in some way or another in Billboard. Too bad it wont happen this time.

Hate to be negative but the whole IYD experience (once the tour is complete) will be over far too soon.

I hate to say it, but it's looking that way. The singel is not even showing up on any airplay charts at all. Hasn't it been out for like three weeks now? And IYD is about to fall off the Billboard top 200, as well.

Hopefully they will release Annabel Lee as a last ditch effort to save the album. Oh yeah, and also PROMOTE IT too.

This is what happens when you wait almost 10 years (i.e., SYW) to release any new music even when it's a great CD.

so far have not heard a single played on the radio from the new album at all here and I listen to the radio all the time and asked and requested pretty much all the stations that would play her new music I got one email back from a dj saying oh I love her that was my response back. No Radio play at all in CT probably why she is not stopping here. They just play her classic stuff only now when Trouble In Shangri-La came out they did play her new songs from that album Planets of Universe and Sorcerer was played alot I remember.

Yes radio sucks here in CT ,When it comes to playing Stevie's new tracks .as you know.Yes I did remember hearing a little bit of TISL on the radio.Anyway I was glad they played the crap out of FM's SYW cd back when it was released.Like Peacekeeper and Say You Will.Radio these days wants to stick with the young talent and currents..they dont give a bloody damn about old established artists.they treat them as has- beens or one hit wonders.Sorry about the finger pointing now.I blame WB for lack of not pushing to promote her work to radio stations.I would think she probably do better with a different record label.I dont know the details about whats left on her contract. She is selling cd's probably due to great reviews from the critics and word of mouth.I do know it not from radio airplay.

So if FWIW is about "the best summer of her life" touring with Tom Petty- then who is the "forbidden" and "outrageous" man in the song that she wants to leave his girlfriend and pack up his stuff?

I have yet to hear "Secret Love" get played. At this point I don't think she'll break through with anything other than a rocker. I guess they'll opt for "Ghosts Are Gone", but I still think an edited version of "Wide Sargasso Sea" would be wiser. Besides, given her new addiction to pantomiming song lyrics on the concert stage, I look forward to her inspired interpretation of "burned-his-house-down" during the live performance of the song. (Strikes invisible match on platform boot, tosses it at invisible silken drapes in invisible cream-colored ivory and soft-yellow house, covers entire head with shawl, stops drops & rolls with Sharon.)

And as far as I'm concerned, FWIW is no "Landslide". It's half a great song (only the verses).

I think both Moonlight & scaled down WSS should of been the 1st & 2nd singles released. No wonder Stevie's struggling with album sales when she has morons like Warner Bros sabotaging another great Album & calling the shots IMO they made the same mistake with TISL releasing Everyday as the first single that song was another poor choice, in fact & unfortunately for me, i didn't bother buying that album till many years later. I feel that FWIW doe not strike me as a great choice, as much as i love this song, it could be seen an other bland song for radio & not played.. on the other hand Moonlight & WSS have a great rockin kick arse vibe that would be suitable for radio & hopefully increase album sales = more albums from Stevie in the future
Sadly I still haven't heard Secret Love on the radio here in OZ either..

ya...see your point..FWIW is a "nice" song...like a "deep cut" maybe...but definately NOT single/radio airplay material...funny you mention "sabotage"..thats exactly what i said when it was announced that FWIW was going to be the next single...i felt it would do nothing for promotion/sales...poor choice from a PR perspective..again...especially for someone who hasnt released new material in 10 years..."secret love" and FWIW are the chosen "comeback songs???" all the TV apperances and not 1 IYD's promo showed...they verbally mentioned "the new album"...but VISUALLY that promo add is very appealing...sparked my interest big time..i dont think i would consider the album a "flop" from a quality standpoint because i love the music...i thinks its a great piece of work..but lets face it...financially....all the time and effort from a lot of people...when all is said and done....they may be able to go mcdonalds a few times w/the profit made form this
