Default Re-Record That Song, Stevie! Poll 2

Okay, the first winners of wanting Stevie to re-record them are "The Dealer", "Julia" and "If You Were My Love". For Poll Two, I will use suggestions from the other thread, and a few things I remembered I meant to do with the first. One thing I forgot is a Mike Campbell song, since Stevie said he HAD to be on In Your Dreams. Here, Mike wrote the music for "The Mix Down" and "You Like Me".

Vote for what you think Stevie & Dave could work their magic on again, not necessarily your favourite unreleased song.

Have fun and play along!

Although ATBW is by far my favorite of this group I think it is near perfect with the vocal and could never be duplicated with the voice she has now, sorry Stevie. Also, I'd be really worried that Dave would come up with a version that doesn't compare to this one and that truly frightens me because I love my precious ATBW just as it. I only wish we could get better sound quality but the song itself is perfection.

That being said I voted for Make of Birds. One of the most haunting, dark, melodic, distinct melodies Stevie has ever written. I just love this song with all of my heart but the quality of the demo is horrible but for some reason I like it that way. Now that I think about it again I would say I would be very scared for Dave to touch any of my favorites and make them bluesy, folksy, rocker-ish for the ones that should remain with a piano basis. If he would keep this mostly piano and add a killer chrous and some nice, mellow guitar riffs I think it could be done and be the next Love Is.

Lindsay, did you download any of the links of "Maker Of The Birds" from the Uncirculated Rumours thread? I don't think the sound quality is "Horrible".

I haven't dl'd that one yet Mike, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. For the last couple of years I've been too lazy to dl better versions of my demos but when I get back from my trip I intend to make it a priority.

Forsaken Love ALL THE FREAKING WAY.

I would DIE if she rerecorded this song. It's one of my favorite Stevie songs of all time.

I'll never know what Jimmy Iovine was thinking letting All The Beautiful Worlds slip off "Wild Hearts" radar? What was he hearing!? This song is passionate, soulful and has a catchy as hell chorus! It has "hit" written all over it. With a little more refinement, additional production and tightening up the mix it would have been perfect back in 1983, and could have easily been Stevie 2nd or 3rd single from WH.

That all being said, I still think Stevie could pull off a pretty decent vocal on ATBW and I can only imagine DS being much more imaginative on the arrangement then the play by numbers session player's WH outtake. Stevie needs to pull this true gem out again. Unlike Secret Love - which I always though of as a cute piano lullaby that Dave & Glen did wonders with - ATBW has more meat & is pure pop sophistication. I salivate at the thought of what DS & GB might bring to this song!

2nd & 3rd choices are pretty close behind. After hearing what Stevie & Dave did with LFTM, she needs to enlist him again to produce and arrange all of the Rhiannon tracks including Forest Of The Black Roses, Maker Of Birds & Forsaken Love!! Dave stayed true to her Stevie's LFTM demo in the best possible way...leaving the best parts of the demo and finishing it as an old school meets modern day Stevie classic!

Sanctuary - hands down.

I was listening to "Stay Away" yesterday, and the lyrics are so involved! Such imagery! I wish better sound existed for this Rhiannon song.

I feel the same way, Lindsay... it really is a beautiful melody.

I couldn't agree more... that's exactly why "Maker of Birds" got my vote!

Oh my god, please mis/forsaken love. I literally *just* heard this song and thought "did I miss this in that poll?" and was gonna demand my vote be changed whew, crisis averted.

Ps, when it's said and done please don't forget Baby Doll.

Forsaken Love = potential to be Stevie's best ballad ever.

Yes, I said it.
