Will there be an offically released recording of the Unleashed tour? According to the Discography on Wikipedia (but who trusts wikipedia) there will be. Sure hope so, but anyone know for sure?

It's an excellent question to which I have not the answer, but I hope that someone on this board has heard something about an official filming of a concert for an Unleashed Tour DVD.

Frankly I'm surprised this topic hasn't been cover more (I started a similar thread a month or so ago and it dissappeared...) so perhaps a little analysis will get things going.
The most important part of this possible live release will be the new stuff we would get. Since this era of FM (imo anyway) started in 1997 I'll use the Dance as a starting point for "new" stuff. I am well aware of the fact that a few songs were performed and released prior to 97 but for the sake of this post I'll only count 1997-2009. So let's go through the set shall we? Monday Morning -New (never done post 97 till now) The Chain -Done (Versions appear on The Dance and Live in Boston, the latter likely being the most similar to an Unleashed release). Dreams -Done (See "The Chain") I Know I'm Not Wrong -1/2 Done (Done but not released by FM in 2004 but a nearly identical version can be found on LB Live at the Bass Performance Hall CD/DVD if you must have Steve, Mick, and John then count this half done) Gypsy -Done (See "The Chain". As a side note it would be nice to have Stevie's information regarding this song on DVD) Go Insane -New (We have versions of this song on The Dance and LB's Bass and Soundstage DVDs but 2009 gave us the first "full band" arrangement that I know of (I'm no LB solo expert but I'm confident that it's not been done post-97) I'm calling it comppletely new. Rhiannon -Done (See "The Chain") Second Hand News -Done (See "The Chain" Lindsey's speech would be nice to have on DVD) Tusk -1/2 Done (A similar arrangement can be found on LB's Live at the Bass DVD but is very lacking in harmonies and the rhythm section) Sara -1/2 Done (A similar version can be found on SN's Live in Chicago DVD) Big Love -Done (Similar versions can be found on The Dance, Live in Boston, Soundstage, and Live at the Bass) Landslide -Done (See "The Chain") Never Going Back Again -Done (The stripped down version with Stevie on harmony can be found on LB's Soundstage DVD) Storms -New (Never done before... ever) Say You Love Me -New (Yes the song is on the Dance but A. Chris is singing on that version and B. its a totally differet arrangement. I'm calling it completely new) Gold Dust Woman -Done (See "The Chain") Oh Well -New (Not done post 97) I'm So Afraid -1/2 Done (See "Tusk") Stand Back -Done (See "The Chain" though this version is shorter since Taku wasn't invited to this tour (or maybe he was and decided not to come along idk)) Go Your Own Way -1/2 Done (The Dance and Boston both featured the song in the original key while Live at the Bass is in it's new key (I don't know about Soundstage) so no FM release features the song in the new key... therefore and in conclusion I'm calling it half done) World Turning -Done (See "The Chain" right down to the band intros (excluding the difference in backing band)) Don't Stop -Done (See "The Chain" including Stevie on the second verse) Silver Springs -Done (See "The Chain") So with 7.5 of the 23 songs being new will the band bother with a new release? And that's assuming they include all the songs. I for one think a release of this tour would be awesome. My favoritre tour so far hands down and I think the "greatest hits" setlist will sell CD's/DVD's. Fingers crossed. |

![]() At the Philly show while at the merch stand I heard Lindsey playing the live version of Oh Well. I couldn't hear if it was on a radio broardcast or not - but heard it among all the Mac studio songs they were playing out there. (this is before you go in an hear the accoustic stuff) |

I don't even care if it's all re-hashed stuff, I'll take it any way I can get it!

I think it would be a great idea to put out a live dvd of the tour... Doesn't everyone do that now pretty much?
I think what would make it really interesting and set it apart from Live in Boston, would be if they make it a multi disc set; meaning the live show included with a dvd of them on the road (if anyone is filming this while they are on the road). If nobody has been documenting them on this North American jaunt, might be a good idea for the band to do so for the European leg of the tour... and have the dvd set called "Live in London" or "Live in Berlin"... Some European city. Without something a little extra or different added... it's not all that enticing I think. |
