Default Long Way Round

I'd never heard of this program until I heard the theme song Long Way Round by the Stereophonics. (Isnt it always that way?) I know it's about Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman riding motorcycles around the world. Could I have some opinions as to what people think, I noticed its available on Amazon and wondered if it was worth it picking it up.

I saw Long Way Round when it was on TV. I have read the book and I own (well, okay my wife owns it) the DVD. It is all wonderful, amazing and mezmerizing. Better watch it soon because Long Way Down was just released in the UK and will be available sometime soon in the US. In that one they ride from top of Scotland to the bottom of South Africa. Can hardly wait.

I don't know what this is, but I'm watching "The Day After Tomorrow" -- it's rotten. It's nothing but a video game; its effects are video-game effects, it has the tempo of a video game, & it has the jerky, childish, druggy kineticism of a video game. The fact that there are a few actors (a very few) standing around delivering dialog means nothing. If all movies were like this, there would be no art form. Whatever you'd call it might still be massively popular, but not worth thinking about or writing about or studying or being swept up in. "The Day After Tomorrow" is a very fancy giant mechanism of some sort, grinding away, & nothing looks or sounds or feels real about it. After awhile, it doesn't even seem very fancy any more. It just feels cruddy. One thing happens after another, but there's nothing for me to care about. These aren't characters -- these aren't even cardboard cutouts.
