My dad was a big country fan and I used to hate listening to it in the car when we went on trips. Something rubbed off because I grew to appreciate it. I'm a fan of all three but went with Patsy Cline because she made such a huge impact in an unfortunately short career due to her death. As big an icon as she is - it's no telling what she would have done if she had lived longer.

I surprised myself. I thought for sure I'd vote Loretta Lynn because I love Van Lear Rose so damn much. But I ended up choosing Patsy. I love Loretta's voice, but she just can't compare...

Arrow Well...

I went with Loretta, although I only really listen to Dolly, in terms of female country singers. I just prefer a male voice in most instances.

All three of these ladies were/are very talented.

Lightbulb Oh wow...

Well...even though I loathe him, Kenny Chesney is popular, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley (another amazing singer/guitarist), Dierks Bentley. Just to name a few, I guess.

Of course, no matter WHO you put him up against, you know who I'll vote for.

Tammy Wynette annoys me for some unknown reason, although I like her music.

It was between Patsy and Loretta for me. I love Loretta's songwriting, but Patsy has that amazing voice. So, that's who I went with. I saw that musical "Always...Patsy Cline" when it was playing in Austin at the Zachary Scott. Great stuff.

Loretta Lynn. I love her down-to-Earthness, her grit, and her honesty. Her voice is distinctive and she sounds great with just about anybody. The Fleetwood Mac fan in me sees her as having the same qualities that make Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks favorites (and Bekka, if you figure in that she's not the only well known musician in the family). Furthermore, her duets with Conway Twitty alone make her a worthy choice. I think Patsy had the better voice, but even her sad songs sounded happy. I'm not really a big fan of Tammy, although "Golden Rings" is a killer song.

I piecked Loretta Lynn. All three are marvelous, but Van Lear Rose is one of my favorite albums (so many great songs; "High On A Mountaintop," "Mrs. Leroy Brown," "Van Lear Rose," "Little Red Shoes," etc.), so that tipped the scale in Loretta's favor.

Loretta Lynn. Van Lear Rose is one of the brightest and more powerful albums I've heard in the last 5 years.
