I went and voted today. I couldn't believe that they didn't have Jefferson Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow on their list. That was my after-suggestion to them.

Me either.....when I think of greatest albums of all time....some of the ones listed weren't it like Madonna---Like a Prayer. If I was going to pick one of Madonna's albums I would have picked Like a Virgin. I don't know; I like the best albums of all times should have been around longer than a year. The album should have stood the test of time, in my opinion.

The others are bigtime head-scratchers, but I think 'Like A Prayer' is a pretty terrific pop album.

It runs the gamut from fun, frothy love songs like "Cherish," to dark tales of abuse, like "Till Death Do Us Part" and "Oh Father."
In fact, it's probably the most balanced album Madonna has ever recorded.

Even though the music is pure pop, it shouldn't be written off as inconsequential.

It shouldn't be included as one of the possible greatest albums of all-time, either, especially when the likes of Tom Petty and Jefferson Airplane are missing.

JMO, of course.

Also, I think is from the UK, that's why some of them are head-scratchers. Just check out their sexy moments list, they included a scene from The Stud.

Unfortunately there's always going to be some glaring omissions on these lists, and some really bewildering inclusions (Robbie Williams?? Scissor Sisters??).

But I defend Like A Prayer's right to remain on the list!

For me, I think the greatest albums are ones that have an emotional resonance and strike a chord that we can all relate to on one level or another.

Some pop albums are simply popular because they somehow manage to be deemed "hip" by the masses... but ultimately they have no staying power. But other pop albums, such as Like A Prayer, have character, depth and soul, and are deserving of being singled out amongst the "greatest albums of all time."
At least that's my opinion.

If they were going to include Madonna, they should have chosen True Blue, IMO. Now there's a pop album. "Where's the Party" is quite the little gem.

I think Robbie Williams and the Scissor Sisters were included because they're big in the UK. I, naturally, can't stand either of them.
