Default Favorite Stevie Live Vocals

Stew's views on the quantity of negative Stevie criticism (Chit-Chat) gave me the idea to ask, "What are your favorite Stevie vocals in concert over the years?" For me, they are:
  • How Still My Love @ Los Angeles Forum 10-02-83 (by far my favorite live vocals ever by Stevie)
  • Sisters of the Moon @ Irvine Meadows 10-18-82
  • Landslide @ Osaka 12-04-77
Landslide @ Santa Monica BTM Tour Rehearsal (Rock Steady)
Landslide @ Detroit Joe Louis Arena 9-19-82
    (A three-way tie)
  • Edge of Seventeen @ Madison Square Garden 8-05-86 (what a galvanizing rip-shred performance in a tour filled with them)

THUD - drop dead both of them!!!!!!

I also think the At Last performance was great as was the Leather and Lace on the BD video.

I LOVE the two (I have only two) Silver Springs live 70's performaces.

I also think the Destiny from the HOB (both edited and unedited) are stunning.

Her EO17 from the Atlanta Enchanted tour was also very good, esp. the scream.

Those are just some amongst many - great thread BTW

That's my favorite Edge. And though I'm not a fan of the current renditions of GDW, the one from that show is phenomenal.

I agree--any Rhiannon from white album era.

Stand Back from the SYW tour. Lots of energy!

EO17, and Gold and Braid from the belladonna tour video.

Sister of the Moon and The Chain from Mirage tour.

Silver Springs, and GDW from The Dance.

Angel from Tusk tour.

I love the whole Red Rocks video too, however, I could have done with a little less spoken word lyrics in some of the songs. Her voice must have been killing her, it's either that or the cocaine high, I'm not sure.

I really have to dedicate more time to my bootlegs. I was so into trading for a while that I didn't really listen to everything I was getting. Concentrate, dammit!

I love Angel from one of the Japan 1980 shows.

Love Edge from the In Concert video.

I really don't have a lot of live Stevie, which makes me Anyway, from what I've heard...

"Rhiannon" on the Rosebud Doc & Live album.
"Edge" version on the Enchanted Box Set

That's it for me

I MUST also mention Gold and Braid from the Bella Donna tour - any recording. Honorable mention goes to it on the Enchanted tour - but to me that tour was all about Sleeping Angel and After the Glitter Fades.

Think you could hook a brotha up with a good, live Sleeping Angel?

Interesting thread, David... thank you.

For me, Stevie's ultimate performance of "Rhiannon," will always be from the Rosebud film.
I had already seen her solo 'In Concert' performance of it, and the one from Fleetwood Mac's 'In Concert'... but when I saw the Rosebud clip on VH1 in 1987, it was forever seared into my brain as the be-all and end-all of "Rhiannons." She absolutely nailed it.

As far as "Landslide," my choice is a bit of an oddball one, I guess... as my favorite vocal performance is from the Letterman appearance in January of '98.

'Storytellers' has my favorite performances of "Edge Of Seventeen" and "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You."

My favorite "Gypsy" is from the AHI benefit in 2001, while my favorite "Gold Dust Woman" is from the Bob Welch & Friend concert, and my favorite "Dreams" can be found on the 'Live In Boston' DVD.

At the moment though, my all-time favorite Stevie live vocal, is the 'Live In Boston' "Beautiful Child."
Her voice is haunting, heartbreaking, breathtaking, and exhilarating all at once.
