Exclamation Get out and vote...

this day.

I went to vote this morning and was surprised that there wasnt as many people at the local election office, Deb stayed at home and will vote later today.

What was a real surprise was seeing NO Independent candidate listed on the Oklahoma ballot for President but that was alright...I think y'all know who I voted for.

I voted for 3 Republicans (All local Oklahoma elections) and 2 Democrats...Hell, I didnt even know that an Independent was running for Senate til last night, But since I never heard of her so she did not get my vote (If Sheila Bilyeu was a candidate such as Carson/Coburn then her face would be posted everywhere.)

Let's put it this way...If Kerry/Edwards are pro-Bruce Springsteen/Fleetwood Mac and Bush/Cheney are pro-Jessica Simple-ton/Kid "White Trailer Trash" Rock (Which they are!) I think ya know who the hell I voted for!!!

I also voted against this ignorant ass state question 711 which adds an admendment to the state constitution that defines "Marriage as only between a man and a woman"...WTF? Are we still living in the "Flintstone era"??? Sorry, But I have to support my gay/lesbian friends here online because I think LOVE is all that matters in the end...I dont judge people on sexual orientation and neither does my wife.

Btw, This was the easiest ballot I have had ever!!!

It only took me ten minutes to get in and out this morning. Not much of a line at all- I was surprised.

This was my first election in Illinois. They have the stupid punch cards- whatever happened to the election reform promised after 2000? Haaaa. I'm used to voting on a computerized thingy, from my old state- Kansas. I guess I'll take the punch cards, though, if it means getting to vote in a Democratic state for once in my life!

You're the sweetest, Mr. J.! Thanks for the vote of confidence, and the thoughtful words.

It's a shame that it won't be defeated, but at least it won't be a unanimous victory. That, in itself, is an accomplishment.
And hopefully Oklahoma will work on allowing civil unions to be recognized and afforded most, or all, of the rights given to married couples.

As I've said... if the religious-right wants ownership of the word "marriage," they can have it. Words mean nothing to me, just so long as I have equal rights.
