I confess I have yet to have bought 'Rumours', 'Fleetwood Mac', or 'Tusk' on Compact Disc, although I have everything else, but the reason I've been holding off on buying those three is because we keep hearing that they're being remastered and will be released in... is it October they're saying now?
The thing I'm wondering is, what is so good about a piece of music being remastered? When I listen to 'Hold Me' on the 'Very Best of' it doesn't sound that much better than the version on the 'Mirage' cd, just that I have to turn up my stereo when I place 'Mirage'. So I guess my question is, besides volume, what is so much better about an album being remastered?

Do you think Fleetwood Mac will ever reunite? Maybe. But not with me or Christine or Lindsey. Christine and I will always be close; Lindsey just plain doesn't like me. I never had any musical training of any kind. I just had this innate ability to walk in, sit down at a piano, and write a song in five minutes, and go to bed. It drives him nuts. - Stevie Nicks, 1994 |
