Rihanna and Britney Collaborate on an S&M Remix

The TMI Thread meets Pop Culture as the reigning world wide Queen of Pop and her United States based equivalent trade lines on this (risque) version of a Rihanna hit that I thought would never get past radio censorship: http://www1.rollingstone.com/hearitn...r/rihanna.html

I highly doubt the two ever met in the studio as this remix is nothing more than a Britney vocal overlaid against the original with one addition verse, "Just one night full of sin/ feel the pain on your skin/ if I don't scream mercy, it's your time to hurt me/ yeah/ if I'm bad, tie me down/ shut me up, gag and bound me/ 'cause the pain is my pleasure/ nothing comes better"

I personally LOVE it, but there's no way in hell that I want someone under about sixteen to hear this. What's your opinion, ledge world? Did they take it too far?

Is the song suited only for those who seek it out rather than for the radio listening public? Can we even pretend that eleven year old little girls won't hear this when it's a collaboration between two such huge popstars?

I won't lie, deciding how I feel about this song has been incredibly hard for me. I tend to believe that popstars have no responsibilities to be the bearers of morality for their society, and one thing I've always loved about both Rihanna and Britney is their tendency to bring it harder and push their envelope further than almost anyone else in their position. This song really does paint women as the gender to be used and abused, though. Does the fact that these women take pleasure from that make up for it? The song does intentionally begin with "I like it." I definitely find a certain type of passive power in the verses, but obviously a young girl listening to it isn't going to get that same realization. I don't want an entire generation of little girls thinking that the DEFAULT for female pleasure is submission. Seriously, thoughts?

rihanna pretty much makes my ears bleed, but i listened to this ... For Women.

first of all, britney doesn't even sound like britney.

autotune OD.

the underlying message of this song doesn't seem all that different from so many other pop songs, it's just a little (ha) more overt. but on a personal level i'd be horrified if my 13 year old cousin were listening to this.

I actually thought Britney was autotuned BACK to sounding like herself rather than to emotional-less bot she's been reduced to on Femme Fatale.

I seriously cannot make up my mind on what I think. If I honestly believed there was a way to keep this from people too young to handle it, I would be obsessed, but like I said, I do NOT want little girls thinking this is the standard version of sexuality.

I can't believe you just used "hetereonormativity." Did your fingers ache a little as they hit the keys? But if we define "standard sexuality" as a version in which women receive equal pleasure from the act as their partner (which is definitely not heteronormativity, but I very much wish it were), then that's what I'm promoting. I'd like to think that sort of definition doesn't always come with a side of pain and submission

i can't believe i just used it either.

i just gave myself rheumatoid arthritis and bone cancer from typing it.
