Default Will our technology be our downfall?

So I've long been of the opinion that our own technology that is touted so proudly will totally be the downfall of man.....

When you think about it - it's staggering how far we've come in a very short period of time.

I mean the Earth is billions of years old - and technology etc was pretty stagnant until fairly recently...I mean things really started exploding in what the late 1800's? It's a bit frightening to me when I think about it - I mean it wasn't too long ago that the Wright bros. did the whole airplane thing and now we're traveling all over the place in those things...

Anyway - I'm just wondering if anyone else has thought about this - what it means....or if anyone has any thoughts or whatever on this topic

I'm not actually familiar with 2001 But this is something I am always contemplating for some reason - I'll be interested to hear your thoughts when it's not 5:30 am ...

Exclamation Wished I knew who...

to credit this saying to (Their name escapes me):

"World War II was fought with guns & men

World War III will be fought with bombs

World War IV will be fought with sticks & stones"

Yep, I feel some technology will be OUR downfall

I think it may be the downfall of homosapiens and other species. If so, I think the Earth will survive us as it has "lived" through worse than we have done. Having said that, who knows what the furture holds.

I could go on and on about this, really, I think about it all the time, in various forms, I try to piece together the webs of history and civilization and what is happening now with our technology and how it affects everything and what will happen, etc.
But why inflict going on and on on everyone? So I'll just say:
Yeah, probably. I generally think we will consume everything on the planet while sumultaneously slowly poisoning ourselves and everything here.
